i cant figure this disc out!! the songs seem to have good 5.1 sound on it but i dont know wat it is during the main feature... the sound seems so bland and lifeless and seems as though its just been panned!! wat is going on.... they have done wat they do on pakistani movies!! i.e. have the whole feature in mono and then change it to stereo during the songs.....!! :vangry: if they have then they really have screwed this disc up.... anyone with a bit more knowledge than me wanna confirm this!!

'I kind of see why Ajay Devgan isn't so keen on Kajol working with SRK anymore. They seem very...very...VERY...close...on the set'

:) Hi all, I'm new here. Got my DVD for DDLJ today. Had to go to work so was unable to check the DVD :( The DVD cover looks great but as Simran pointed out it is made of cardboard with a flappy cover.

The features look mouthwatering and I hope the sound/picture quality is good. I will be getting my Creative amp/speakers next week so I could test the 6 channel digital sound.

I also got the limited edition audio Cd compilation of hit songs of YR films. Some of the old songs have been given a nice remix and sound better! Anyway I hope you all get your DVD and enjoy...whilst I wait to watch it tonight!

I did a quick check on the DVD. Bit rate jumps up and down like a jo-jo - max it reaches it ~7mb/sec, low is ~3.5mb/sec, averages at about 4.8mb/sec.

Image is OK, it's from a progressive source but still the video is soft, lacks sharpness. Colours are weak, check shots from faddy - no vibrancy and generally dull. Lack of shadows too.

Sound: original film was 4 channel surround - and this DVD is artificial 5.1 - it's not bad but feels like an manufactured echo has been added. Its not a mono panned to all speakers – no speech is heard from rears/front surrounds. It not amazing, but still good.

Extras: content wise they are extensive and interesting to watch. Quality wise they suck big time. The recent interviews with Uday Chopra are badly sourced, sound is terrible with an irritating interference sound in the background. The anamorphic trailer is badly framed – see below;

Promos and rest are poor in quality also. The animated menus have had some time spent on them – like too much! They are really good and add that extra nice touch to the DVD set.

Overall it what was expected; quality film with loads of extras but poor DVD, quality wise.

...just add a little bit on the price; it's well over priced this DVD! Bollywooddvd.co.uk & indiandvdfilms.com have it for £21.99 and £20.99 respectively (Both had it for £19.99 before). Cdguru.com have it for £17.99+£0.65p&p.

My verdict on the DDLJ DVD

..the day will come when YRF get their heads out of their butt holes and stop using Super Digital as the DVD authors and actually make a good DVD. Well hope is not lost then :baaa:

Ali :rolleyes:

Disable hardware acceleration from the options to capture screen shots.
