To summarize then, DTS DVDs often sound better than the original Dolby DVDs not because DTS encoding is better, but because DTS engineers take more time (they don't have the original DVD deadline) and pay more attention to sound quality.

But how do you explain the reviews where DD and DTS are on the same disc and the reviewer usually gives DTS the edge?

Come to think of it, I do remember reading somewhere that the DTS track of "The Haunting" was made from a 24 bit master, whereas the DD version was from a 16 bit master, or something along those lines.

I agree with kstuart to some extent. I often found DTS a bit more clear than DD. Nothing spectacular. I mean when compared to DD you are not gaining a whole lot except in some rare disks.

Ganti, said it right, and dragun's point is valid!! on proper machines, with good channel seperation, high end stuff! 2 things, Dts, might give u advantage, cleaner, better channel seperation and better lower end..0.1!

You can feel the same in MONSOON WEDDING, if u have right equipment! But in absence of DTS, I would be pretty contended with DD OF MW!

If I had to choose between anamorphic video(as I have widescreen display) and DTS! after listening to marginal difference!I would pick former to later!

Precisely that's my point also. After all years these people are using DTS as their new gimmick

I am trying to make the same point to murakh public! pls. dont buy a dvd because it has dts!

buy only if it has respectable PQ along with PROPER DD sound, as it deserved...mono, stereo, dolby surround, 5.1(proper)! otherwise take ur money somewhere else!

Would i buy another crappy devdas with extra 30 minute shit and dts...? NO!!

I still say that Indian DVD's from now on should get a Hollywood company to do their DVD's. On the big screen, the camera's are horrible, but the vision is clear.
