This might be a rumour , but i heard, SLB/BHARAT BHAII are thinking of making MUGHLE AZAM again after DEVDAS!!

Some people say classics are best left alone.

We say, cool.

But... What if?

What if K Asif's Mughal-e-Azam, one of the biggest classics of Indian cinema, were made today?

Do you think any one can beat Prithviraj Kapoor as Shahenshah Akbar, Dilip Kumar as Shehzada Salim and Madhubala as Anarkali? Who, from among the many stars in the Hindi film industry today would essay these roles?

We'd like to know what you think. Have your say!

There goes another classic. :(

I don't think there could be a worse choice for the part of Akbar than Amitabh Bachchan. Come on guys his physical appearance, specially his height are just not right for the role. Remember how bad Amitabh was in 'Agni Varsha'? I think he will be worse in a remake of Mughal E Azam. If Amitabh has any sense he will not play the role, but then again he has done such atrocious roles and films that I would not put it past him to do this specially if the money is right.

Looks like historicals/costumes dramas are back in vogue. The latest rumour doing the rounds is that the Jain brothers of Venus have decided to remake MUGHAL-E-AZAM with Amitabh Bachchan [as Emperor Akbar], Shah Rukh Khan [as Prince Salim] and Aishwarya Rai [as Anarkali]. Reportedly, Rajkumar Santoshi will direct the project, while A.R. Rahman will compose the music.

But Ratan Jain, the head honcho of Venus, denied the development when we called to verify. "It's true that we were planning a historical at a point of time. It's also true that we did speak to Santoshi about it. But it's not true that we're going ahead with the project," Jain states.

Reason for aborting the project? "It's not viable economically in the current scenario," pat comes the reply, "Let me further clarify that Venus has no plans of making a historical at the moment." Point noted!

Guys everyone seem to forget one thing... Nearly all the major actors and actresses of the original classic have died or passed away. But did someone care to think ... Why not ask... the Prince Salim of M-E-A to enact Akbar Baadshah in the new version ?
Can anyone be a better choice that Dilip Kumar ?He has the age and he has the charisma (and as Sanjay says.. he doesnt have that stupid beard like Amitabh has :D )

i agree the fellow zulmies about AB to do Akbar is not appealing. i dont think there is anyone who can fit Akbar's role today: The closest i can think of the following:
Khulbhushan Kharbanda (but he aged now..)
Om Puri (his voice would not suit for urdu dialogues)
Raj Babbar (Doesn't look old enough)
Late Sanjeev Kumar would have been perfect.

SRK can do good job on MEA, considering the role he did in Asoka. Aishwariya wouldn't do justice either for MEA
Madhuri Dixit would be better choice for Anarkali.
Namrata Shirodhkar may not have the talent, but definitely have the slight look of Madhubala.

what you folks think/..

:ffs: BASTARDS!! whats it with cussin AB... I think he wud do brilliantly in the role of Shahenshah Akbar... but another person i would like to see in his role if not AB, it would be Dilip Kumar himself!!!

As for Prince Salim Shaharukh Khan would ruin the movie.. i think Aamir Khaan would do a much better job that SRK... For Anarkali Aishwariya Rai will be excellent!!

o oh.. offended AB fan.. :nervous:

didn't even thought about DILIP KUMAR.. he would definitely be suitable for Akbar role! AK is too short to be Salim, AR is slow slim to be Anarkali. no offence please.
