The claim for the first DTS DVD for an Indian company goes to not Yash Raj nor BEI not even EROS but a small Tamil distribution company called Tamilni. They have released a compliation DVD of latest films songs called Digital Isai Amutham Vol 1 which has anamorphic OAR video and DTS and Dolby Digital 5.1.

I have got the DVD and I must say the DTS track is on par with any Hollywood DVD out there that is reference quality. More dymanic separation is heard and the LFE rocks!!! I compared it with the Ayngaran Kanathil Mutthamitaal (which I think is one of the best Dolby 5.1 track on DVD) and the DTS track on the Tamilini DVD was more spacious and solid!

The DVD has songs form the Tamil films
Tamilian, Ezulmailai, King & Raja.

Ayngaran have now launched an attack on thier rivals and are working on re-releasing many of the big titles in DTS.

As Prasad have done this DVD for Tamilini it is likely that all other Indian DVD company will follow. But it is good to see that DTS has been launched by a small company. Its is ironic that it was Ayngaran that introduced DTS sound to Indian cinema by co-producing the first ever Indian film with DTS sound for a Tamil film. Now thier rival has introduced it to DVD. I'm sure many at Ayngaran are pissed at this :)

But I am just glad that DTS is in the market now, this indeed is a nice xmas gift....

Hi there,
it's nice to hear this DVD has big and nice sound but, being a dvd featuring song sequences of films does it have nice and big picture as well?
Do they have a web site?
Be well citizens,
Thomas

Although not by an 'Indian' DVD company, Monsoon Wedding (R1) has the title of being the first Indian film DVD with a DTS track :baaa:

That is bull, the DVD has no DTS track. After 2 years of waiting and after 2 years of screaming by the producers that the DVD will have DTS sound, guess what. it does not.

Wow, this is pretty cool. Does this DVD have both DD 5.1 and DTS 5.1 tracks? Is the DTS track full bitrate or half?
