More than songs it was the colorful song-dance picturizations. One of the songs that I remember was Sa Re Ga Ma Pa -----.

In those days I overheard someone saying I have to go see it first day first show; it has Shshi Kapoor and Hema Malini. That's how popular these stars were at that time.

BTW, I don't think it was a 1960 release. More like mid or late 60s.

Ganti, It's a great movie. My fav.

Review up;

http://www.zulm.net/modules....thold=0

.. if it wasn't for the audio this would have been a classic collectors edition. Audio although not totally bad is the real let down especially if you consider how much effort the rest of the DVD package has put into it.

For a film from 1970, it looks great, compare this with Angoor a film from 1982 – it kind a of throws the argument out the window that good films prints can’t be sourced and properly ‘re-mastered’

I told you ali, the other day..SD f*ed up sound...damn, why they have to digitally enhance it and screw it up!!

Why dont they leave DAMN thing alone!! If they are not able to HANDLE..remix properly!!!

For comparison..If u have both..compare Guide..EROS sound and GUIDE..SHEMROO's sound and tell me which one you prefer!!

Told you..LOUD is not always better!! :baaa: :stupid: :bangbang:

DD 5.1 is the marketing tool for the ignorant customers who insist on getting a DD 5.1. So, it's a judgement call, whether to meet the expectation of the majority or to make a right product. After all, they have to sell their product.

Apart from this audio, the DVD is excellent. It's an Eye Candy. I saw this movie DVD twice before I went to bed. If you are not fans of Shashi Kapoor or Hema Malini, you will become fans, of them, of that age. Girls will start dreaming about someone like Shashi Kapoor, of those years, taking shelter in their Verrandah and boys will start dreaming about meeting someone like Hema Malini of those years.

The PQ is more colorfull than Shemaroo Prem Rog's Tulip song.

Definitely, time to revise all threads about naming Top Indian DVDs.

Rana

P.S.
Video bit rate is high (bet 5 mbps and 8 mbps), but could have been higher if the audio was left in 2 Ch mono requiring 224 kbps instead of 448 kbps for DD5.1.

Bit rate is constant on this DVD - not quite a flat liner but it never reaches 8Mb/sec - bit rate viewer reports it as 6.3Mb/sec - drops slightly below 6 and then goes slightly above 6 in a constant pattern.

I agree with you Ali, bit rate is mostly flat. I was watching it from my Sony DVD player, which has a coarse bit rate bar scale. On that it was mostly near 5 but I did see a few streaks to over 7 mbps. I didn't see it on my PC yet.

I have noticed in the past that genarally, Power DVD bit reader gives somewhat higher numbers and gives as exact to 0.1 mbps. There must be difference in what they monitor or/and indicate. Do they indicate peaks for a certain time span or just average for a time span or instantaneous or how long the time span segments are.

powerdvd4 gives 6.2 bit rate..decent for this flick, SD had been crticized widely for their Shitty 5.1 practice, but you think rana ji!! market wants this holophonic sound oozing out of all speakers all the time..I dont think this defence is justified, if some body is so troubled he can change, mono or stereo into 5 channel stereo dsp mode...another new film they did this shit was ONE TWO KA FOUR!! BESIDES ALL oldies, calling it DIGITALLY ENHANCED!!

WE DONT WANT THIS KINDA STUPID ENHANCEMENT :baaa: :bangbang:

WHEN U GET SHEMROO GUIDE, LISTEN TO BOTH EROS/SHEMROO VERSION AND then tell me rana!!

market wants..interlaced..ok..get interlaced.
market wants..pseudo 5.1..what are we talking abt...market wants, 4:3 AR., so what!!

I dont think, any body ever criticized DEI FOR KEEPING STEREO/MONO TRACKS with oldies!!

It is remixablle to right 5.1 sound...if not doable..leave damn thing alone!! :bangbang:

Guys... anyone who hasnt got this DVD, please go and buy it from Indiaweekly.com . Its the REAL deal !... DEI is dead... Long Live SuperDigital .....

I personally eat my words...and apologize for everything I said abt SuperDigital....

Its been ages since a Green Light indication appeared on my Progressive DVD player from a Hindi DVD.... (non DEI)...

Some wise guys who stated here that " we deserve what we get"... I would like them to take a look at this DVD.... This is the DVD quality we should get (Picture Quality etc.)

The only way to promotoe good quality amongst Hindi DVds is to promote DVds like this ! (and not the shit like the ones dished out by EROS Videosound etc.)

Abhinetri review says:

"There are signs of edge enhancement and noise reduction artefacts but never distracting enough to become a problem."

Does it mean it is better in this department too?? It does not say "Excessive" DVNR, seen in almost all Indian DVDs??

I think most of DEI DVD's have this problem. But SD progressive DVD's are better in this regard.

Confirmed Deal would involve... the entire Plus Films Catalogue.. ( Some not so mass-y films.. but real classy films... and they would be the Shyam Benegal films ... Sardari Begum for e.g. .. I wonder if the other older Shyam Benegal films are revived by SuperDigital )... for example... even the Flop Papa Kehte Hain (but great music.) )

They are going after some more goodies... will keep u folks updated abt the rest, as and when any info arrives..

BTW... The folks at SD are quite impressed with the publicity .. Abhinetri got here on Zulm.net !

Where has SD been all this time? They haven't put out DVDs on their own (meaning, not for YRF or Video Sound) in a while.
