Gautam what is interlaced ?

Take ur hands... and intertwine them together... This is called interlacing...
Now if you have 2 frames in a video sequence at two instances...
I would take half the information from one frame and the other half from the other frame and form a frame... This is called an interlaced frame...

----------
-----------
----------
-----------
----------
would be an interlaced picture frame

-----
--------
-----------
-----------
--------
-----
would be a progressive picture frame ..!

how come I have seen that shemaroo video quality is quite superior and vibrant as compared to eros, videosound, Yashraj but definitly not to DEI.

The ppl who author the DVDs... for VS & EROS happen to be Media Dimensions.. one of the w****rs ( ( I see Lord Vader has been deleting my posts lately based on this word..so lets censor our stuff here).. The way they author their dvds and the media they use eventually is a benchmark for their DVD quality.

Shemaroo on the other hand , supposedly has one of the most sophisticated DVD authoring studios in India. They also have a repository of Old Hindi classics...(and I mean negatives). Hence they are in a position to produce better DVds than say the w*****rs @ EROS or VS. Unfortunately where Shemaroo screws up ( and I am sure the Marwari who runs their business will hardly bother to listen to reason...) is the way they encode their DVDs... which as a result is a complete let down.... Had they got that part right..their DVds would have easily kicked off all competition..
and thats why they can never get into the DEI category ..unless someone influential like say
SANJAY :D is able to charm his way to the authoring guys @ Shemaroo
