You have atleast three male singers on your list whose entire careers are built around imitating Kishore Kumar (arguably the greatest playback singer of all time) and the funny thing is that you don't have Kishore Kumar in the list. Am I missing something?
Mahendra Kapur, K. L. Saigal, Manna Dey, Hemant Kumar are names that also come to mind, long before the above mentioned three, namely Abhijeet, Kumar Sanu ??? & Roop Kumar Rathod.

As for Music Directors, the names that first come to mind when one thinks of the all time greats, Rahul Dev Burman (the most copied), Laxmikant Pyarelal, Shankar Jaikishan, Kalyanji Anandji, Naushad, Hemant Kumar.

By the way the word is not 'Lyricians' but rather it is 'Lyricists'

None of the above lists contain the names of Sahir Ludhianvi or Neeraj. Sahir was arguably one of the best of his generation. He wrote slightly defeatist lyrics, depressing even maybe ('Jinhe naaz hai Hind par woh kahaan hain' from PYAASA) but then it was perhaps reflective of the times he lived in. Heck people loved DEVDAS in that period, can anything get more defeatist than that!?

Neeraj penned things like 'Shokhiyon mein ghola jaay, phoolon ka shabaab' for Dev Anand in PREM PUJARI.

Any of my list would include the above two and ofcourse Gulzar, Anand Bakshi and Kaifi Azmi.

Sanjay, Aarkayne..

No offence guys.. I was just listing my all time favourites. i know i did have excluded some of the greatest artistes on purposely as i listen those who were excluded now and then not always. apna apna taste hai bhai. i am surprised noone said anything about lata mangeshkar.

Thanks for the correction Sanjay, i always knew that was wrong, but never bothered to find out what is the right word. ;)

Kishore Kumar - i love some of his songs and listen to them based on my mood.
Mahendra Kapur - i heard very few songs of him that were worth listening, and others annoying (please dont take offence). would appreciate some sort of listing of his greatest songs.
K. L. Saigal - i love all of his songs and listen to them now and then.
Manna Dey - i heard some songs, but can't say my favourite as i haven't heard much of his hindi songs.
Hemant Kumar - i dont like his accent in hindi songs

Rahul Dev Burman - i bet he has had most releases, he has many of my favourites and many of my not-so favourites.
Laxmikant Pyarelal - recent releases have been copied value
Shankar Jaikishan/Kalyanji Anandji - i like their releases but not as all time.
Hemant Kumar/Naushad - Repeats Tune (still like their music but not always) (please dont take offence)

ali,
kindly edit the title of thread 'Lyricians' to 'Lyricists'.. :O

None taken.
I guess as a favorites list, anything goes. But the reason I brought up the name of Kishore Kumar, is that you have three singers on your list whose entire careers are based on imitating the voice and style of Kishore Kumar. Which makes it quite ironical that the original does not find favor on your favorites list.
