Ok!! here we go!!I saw it myself, actual opening in theatres is 22nd Nov!!

Owners have high hopes of milking money on this one and DONT intend to release a dvd ,before six months..Ali to make a note!

Leela..might come out earlier!!

Film it self, is, not like Deepa mehta's previous work, good music, you dont get to feel, entirely in film, overshadowed by filmi(other bollywood flicks ) music!!

It is a "ATYPICALLy, TYPICAL, FILM!! that is quiet SUPERFICIAL, overall, story plot wise!! but ENTERTAINING, for its, COMIC TIMING , ONE LINERS!!

People watching it for TYPICAL BOLLYWOOD MASALA! No way, IT WONT SATISFY THEIR TASTE!

But!! FOR ABCD generation, it will be QUITE SATISFYING and ENTERTAINING and also, for NON HINDI SPEAKING AUDIENCE!!
It wont hurt, viewing it for 1 hr and 45 minutes!! :baaa:

FILM, has low bUDGET! and also, VERY ATYPICAL< NON HINDIFILM like CAMERAWORK and SHOTS ARRANGEMENT and CINEMATOGRAPHY, along with CHOREOGRAPHY!!

This film might be in SYNC SOUND!? as DIOLOGUES were Quiet a bit softer, and many time not COMPREHENDABLE!! ???
It was presented in DD, as OWNER said has been made only in DD!!There was some OCCASIONAL WELL DEFINED SURROUND ACTIVITY, as NEEDED by the FILM, but MOSTLY is DIOLOGUE DRIVEN DRAMA!!!

RAHUL KHANA! looks DASHING!
GOOD TO WATCH, MOUSHMI and KULBASHAN KHURBINDA!
LISA RAY!! I think, looked BETTER in KASOOR!!

BUT!! OVERALL, RECOMENDED for WATCHING, WITHOUT EXPECTING IT TO BE A TYPICAL BOLLYWOOD< CHEESY MUSH! IMHO!! then you wont be disappointed!!

Na aapki na meri!!opinion mattered, but!!

BOLLYWOOD/HOLLYWOOD DECLARED HIT!
The film passes one million mark at box office!

Director Deepa Mehta's latest movie Bollywood/Hollywood has been declared a hit in Canada, where it has already passed the one million-dollar mark at the box office.

The love story, which stars Rahul Khanna and model turned actress Lisa Ray, has received some great reviews and continues to be screened throughout Canada weeks after release. Its producers now have their fingers crossed that the film will also prove successful when it releases in the US on Friday, and then on India on the 27th December 2002.

As the title suggests, “Bollywood Hollywood” works not only as a feel-good family drama or a musical, but also as a very intelligent spoof of Indian film culture.

“Bollywood Hollywood” also suffers from choppy editing and dull cinematography. For a light-hearted musical with a strong Indian theme, the production design and cinematography is simply not colorful enough. Vibrant color schemes as opposed to the sullen schemes employed could not only have sped up the proceedings, but also made the film a visual delight given its colorful content.

Despite these flaws, “Bollywood Hollywood” holds its own thanks to Mehta’s playful direction, a spoofy-witty screenplay, and an extremely talented cast. An interesting experiment in blending Indian filmmaking style with western sensibilities, “Bollywood Hollywood” is highly recommended viewing for fans of Indo-American New-Wave Cinema. In the dearth of good films in the last few months, “Bollywood Hollywood” arrives as a savior of sorts – at least for most of the hour and a half that it lasts.

After working with A.R. Rahman in “Fire” and “1947 Earth,” Deepa Mehta ropes in Sandeep Chowta. Chowta’s score and songs support the movie aptly. However, for a musical, the composer fails to create that memorable track that viewers could take away from the film. Many of Rahman’s songs such as “Rang De,” “Mehndi Hai Rachnewali,” and parts of “Earth” also contribute to much of the background music. The dance sequences lack the energy of mainstream Indian films. Akshaye Khanna makes a special appearance as himself in one of the musical numbers along with Lisa Ray. The fact that Dina Pathak seems to be able to dance better than the younger Khanna is a different story all together!!!

****go watch it in theatre this holiday season...rang rang mere rang !
