sounds like you need subtitles :tounge: :tounge:

just kidding :D

seriously though, sometimes titles are put in for no reason whatsover and this happens more often than not in Bollywood films (and in Hollywood aswell). And the title can also mean something in Tamil.

And as for good Tamil films, you can watch:
Alai Payuthe (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)
Run
Citizen
Mudhalvan
Baba (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR RAJNIKANT FANS)
Kandukondein Kandukondein (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED)

hey....i think i have seen the movies "RUN & CITIZEN"....they were ok....i will check out the other ones when i make my next visit to indian store....i did not get the movie BABA because firstly i dont like rajnikanth movies that much...cause his movies are like back in the day type style movies...like u know how MITHUN CHAKRAVORTY makes movies now these days :) .....lol ...sort of like that....usually in his movies, too much computerized fightings...i hate that....mostly now these days, tamil movies are all sound like "MATRIX" movie....thats how all their direction is....i try to avoid those type of movies...thats why i said, i want serious drama, no bullshit meaning none of charlie chaplin type act in the middle of movie....man i wish i knew some clown character names from some tamil movies i been seeing lately, but unfortunately, i only know the main characters :) ....anyways give me some more movies....i will make this weekend a tamil movie night :) ....

Photo album maybe?

One thing I like about Tamil movies is the short titles. Run, Citizen, Album, Baba, Mugavari, Mudhalvan, etc. You won't see any "Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein" in Tamil films :)

12B was another good Tamil film.

12B....thats the one where the guy has double role in it....its a werid movie....again what does 12b have to do with the movie??? i thought the director took the concept of the english scary movie "THE OTHERS" where in that movie, 2 things are happening at the same time..we have a family up in heaven which are dead, and then we have some family in earth.....i did not get the tamil version....i dont know...i think the director in this movie, was playing with computers or something :) ...maybe he just found a new technology or something.....i dont know..i found this movie very confusing and not making sense at all....have u seen these movies??? Vannathapola, kadal pookkal & bharathi???? how are they??? they are national film festival winners....

12B is more like "Sliding Doors" than "The Others"

12B was more similar to the movie Sliding Doors, and the title wsa the number of the bus that the hero either caught, or missed ( I guess you have to have seen the movie to understand what I'm on about!!)

Darius named some good Tamil films, so I thought I'd throw in 12B. It was a remake of the concept of Sliding Doors. I'm not sure where computers and technology comes in, since 12B didn't have any special effects. It wasn't a double role like in Jeans.

It was about the hero who is going to a job interview and he has to take the 12B bus to get there. When he misses it, the film stops, and a narrator asks, "What if he caught the bus? Why don't we see both stories?" Thus, we see what happens to the hero in the life where he catches the bus and in the real life where he misses the bus.

I saw Bharathi over a year ago and I was a bit disappointed. As far as a biopic goes, I suppose the film does an okay job of telling us about Bharathiyar's life. For those of you who don't know, Subramania Bharathi was a revered Tamil poet of the early 20th century. Sayaji Shinde does an excellent job of portraying him, but the writer/director Gnana Rajasekharan added a little too many filmi elements for my tasted. For example, the "Mayil Pola" song where a little girl sings in the forest was totally pointless. And it is a bit too melodramatic at times, in a way that is distracting. He also added an inappropriate comedy track in the form of two guys trying to get a photo of Bharathi for some reason. I think the police wanted to arrest him. This couldn't possibly be a commercial film, so don't try to make it one. Those of you expecting an out and out art film will be disappointed. There are some good moments in the film, though, so the film is worth watching.

IMHO, Bharathi wasn't a terrible film, but it could have been a great film, which it wasn't. But even if you aren't a Tamilian, his life is still an interesting story, because he was so ahead of his time. He wrote poems about not only Hindu gods, but on Jesus and Allah as well. He also wrote patriotic and other types of poems.

Yep, that's the same one. I think he is Marathi and that his dialogue in Bharathi was dubbed.
