One of the first Indian DVDs I bought was "Saathi" from Media Digital. I decided to test on my player whether it was progressive, and sure enough, it took only 24 steps to get through a frame. I tested several consecutive frames just to make sure. Using this method it is progressive. Of course, the DEI version is going to be preferable, since the Media Digital version is single layered and has some artifacting. But it is actually a pretty good DVD. I tested "Saraswatichandra," the other Media Digital disc I have, and it is interlaced.
