My god does this guy look ugly! I don't understand how people can go see this after seeing the song/promo, but that's just my opinion. I admit it does look unusual, which maybe a good thing resulting in a new genre.

Haven't seen Road yet but I did watch Company.

One word about Vivek's proformance "Excellent".

The man doen't have to rely on his looks or trading on Daddy's good name (Hritik and Mr Bachchan Jnr).

Well I do agree that Vivek is a good actor, especially in Company. Already he's a better performer than his dad.

Than Suresh Oberoi? I would doubt that. Though Suresh Oberoi may not have had these types of hero roles, even today, he remains a better actor than vivek.

Ram Gopal Varma’s Empty Road
Receiving mixed responses from audiences and critics, Rajat Mukherjee’s second attempt at film making after the successful Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya will not see the same success. The film has not managed a decent initial everywhere with even the promotions from the overseas distributors, Media Partners, failing to do much for it. The film is barely holding its own in Mumbai and flopping fast everywhere else. The cinema halls are empty, but for Varma and Mukherjee it seems that the roads leading to them are even more depressingly vacant.

Have not seen the film yet, but I get the impression that most Indians complain about the same mushy love stories offered every week, but if they get an alternative they reject it.

i totally agree with MHafner... when i went to watch the movie.. which was at one of the main showing times on the first day of the showing there was only about 15 people in the cinema and half of them walked (mainly married couples) out because they were expecting a run of the mill love story plot... The other screens that were showing daft movies such as Dil Hai Tumhara and Mujhse dosti Karoge were sold out.. Just shows wat the general desis go for... run of the mill bullshit... look at Devdas, Hum Tumhare hain Sanam and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Ghum, the biggest grossers ever for being the same old bullshit!!

maybe
when married
women rule
husbands are trying to make their wives happy, or they are taking their wives out to have good time
when they go to theater, women (mostly) want to see mushy mush love story films
maybe b/c women prefer these type of indian films or they are just so much in love they only want to see love stories
these could be the reasons, why only these (love stories, films about love of the family, etc.) type of indian films do well
i don't know i am just trying to understand
you might say i am blaming this on women audience
i may be wrong :;):

Well my experience in NJ was different. The audience was virtually all young people half of which was couples and groups of men and women. No extended families or families with children (No film can be a big hit here without this group).

There were more people in the theater for this movie than for Company (both for first Friday 9.30 show)
