Indian actor Salman Khan will star in "Marigold," a musical romantic comedy written and to be directed early next year by U.S. filmmaker Willard Carroll ("Playing by Heart"). ;) ;) ;) :baaa:

I don't think he'd do well. Salman has the uncanny ability to make a mess of almost anything he does in front of a camera. Come on, surely they could have done better. They probably chose him as he is one of the most well known Indian actors by 'entertainment-industry' type Americans all because believe it or not, he came number 7 in a worldwide poll on the best looking people in entertainment carried out by People magazine.
He was even due to appear on Oprah, but turned it down!

Shit ! Just look at the story line :)... It looks more or less like a Jag Mundhra Soft-Porno flick !.. A B grade actress stranded in India and so on... Is Salman so desperate that he needs to act in sucn Flicks...and that too his name in the film is Prem... his "Lucky" screen name (Judwaa, Maine Pyar Kiya etc.)

Someone should make a parody lambasting Salman. The character should always be shirtless and his name would be Pyaar :p

Hollywood in Bollywood

Hollywood is soon to make its presence felt in Bollywood what with a leading Hollywood production house all set to make a Bollywood-Hollywood project. The film titled Marigold, written and directed by Willard Carroll of Hyperion Pictures is going to first film that will pair an US actress with an Indian superstar. It tells the story of an American actress who falls in love with an Indian choreographer. Marigold will be entirely shot in India in places like Goa, Delhi, Agra, Jaipur and Mumbai. The entire cast of the movie, but for the American actress, will be Indian. Preity Zinta and Rani Mukherjee are being considered for the supporting roles. "Marigold will be shot simultaneously in Hindi and English and Willard will be directing both," informed Siddharth Jain Vice President, Hyperion films. A R Rehman and Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy are being considered as the music directors of the film. The Hindi version of Marigold will be two and half hour long while the English one will be one hour forty five minutes only.

I don't know about this story.

In other press releases, they have said they wanted to get either Gwyneth Paltrow, Britney Spears, or Jennifer Love Hewitt for the American leads. The way they were talking about it, you could tell they had never even asked them. And, it isn't that easy to get them either.

And who is Hyperion Pictures? Not a US company which they would need to get a big US star for it.

Sounds like an interesting idea, but we will have to wait and see how it turns out.

YOUTH-ORIENTED==> SALMAN KHAN ==> SAVE US!!

anyways, their film lineup is decent...they have had films with Angelina Jolie, Sean Connery, Dennis Quaid..etc

so we;ll see..

but i guarantee it'll be a luaghingstock movie!
