If the same films were hits, they would be saying Hrithik is the best actor in India if no the world. Unfortunately most of the analysis/review/critique of films in India revolves around the box office performance of the film

I agree, the movie is number at # 5 in UK and made £204,490 so far :)

Duh _rb_ again :) Let them movie be No#1 in the US/UK BO charts... The population there is miniscule when comapared with the Big daddy of them all... that of India.. 1 billion+. Surely a film is declared a hit or a flop based on the respose you get from a Billion+ audi9ence rather than a few 100(exxagerating) thousand folks in the Uk/USA/Canada ?...

 well exuse me im not trying to make a point that MDK does not sux or is the best movie ever i am just posting box office reviews if that is a crime just say so :baaa: :ffs: :bangbang: :vsneaky:

So climbing UK charts??? does not COUNT/ACCOUNT/SPEAKS..for any film IMHO! I dont care..period! UK chart status! :baaa: :stupid: :bangbang:

Sknath-

I see that your so caught up in defending yourself that you forgot to write how many times you saw the movie, once, twice? Wait....you didnt.

Think about this, for two people (Arsh,Sknath) who did not see the movie, not one frame or scene, you two sure did post ALOT in the thread that was meant for talking about the movie (From Arsh's copying and pasting tirade, to your downplaying of people's opinion who happen to ACTUALLY see the movie). I am not like you, not going to "warn" you or tell you what to do, I am not the administrator, I actually could care less, but think about that point.

I think a hit or a flop is based on how much money one would recover from the film. From your stand point, what your saying is that it could make a million DOLLARS in the U.S., U.K., Canada but because it didnt make a million RUPEES its not a hit? Is that correct according to you?

So the film is making money in the UK, its topping the charts, and now the charts dont matter. Remember that when Kaante is up there, and see what will be said. :plain:

Naven You are right, I didnt see the movie for once and dont plan to do so in the near future also :).. As to why arsh bhai and myself have posted a lot.. its from past experiences.. (na Tum Jano Na Hum, AMALL, etc etc..) which i had the misfortune of watching :(
Now after those movies, and knowing what the plot of MDK is, do you expect me ( or for that matter any sensible person) to relaize what kinda story that might be other than the usual clichéd stuff ?
My conversations with _rb_ is in a lighter vein and so also with arsh and I think both of them understand that. As for you.. I guess I see no hope for you..
Like i said, if you think Na Tum Jano Na Hum was a hit, so be it.. If you think MDK is a hit , so be it :)

Of course, money is indeed a factor for declaring a movie hot for a flop ( or for that matter the only reason it is declared a hit). But pray tell me is MDK in any way an ARTISTIC success also ? I doubt it, and it will be judged from the awards which are given out to the films as well as by viewers and critics... Unless u expecting something quite spectacular, I doubt if this film is gonna get any mention at all (sans for Rani Mukherjee).

& By the way if you didnt know, I may not like Predator's Mum and his posts's... but I think he is the right person for ya and ur posts and ur Hrithik Obsession :)

*ps :- I am not a Shahrukh Fan in any way..and I went to see Devdas for Madhuri and the sets and the songs and her dialogues :) (PERIOD... lest some folks address me here as DEVDAS buff :D )

I have no hopes for Kaante.. I leave that to my good friend Faddy :)

The most impressive of this week’s debutantes was Eros International’s latest Bollywood release, Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam. The romantic drama grossed a mighty $354,191 (£242,975) off just 28 sites – a site average of $12,650 – and landed in seventh position. The film, which stars Shahrukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit and Atul Agnihotri, is the highest opening ever in the UK for a Bollywood film handled by Eros and the third highest Bollywood opening ever in the country, behind last year’s K3G ($690,022 from 41 sites) and 2000’s Mohabbatein ($359,137 from 26 sites) – both distributed by Yash Raj Films.

honestly, i wouldn't mind if yrf just stuck to sappy family/love stories. they have done a great job with these movies in the past, even though their last few releases weren't the best. the type of movies that yrf puts out time and time again seem to appeal to many viewers, especially the non-hindi speaking audience. i know many non-hindi speaking people who love the types of films that yrf makes, and have never heard of or want to see movies like "satya" or "kaante." in short, yrf has done a lot for hindi movies outside of india, and judging from the success of their past blockbusters, even indians love them too. so i say lets leave them alone and pray that they come up with something new in the sappy family/love story department, and pester the rest of bollywood to come up with unique and innovative movies.

Theon..Vijay,Lamhe,WAQT werent sappy family dramas (they were fresh and unique).. In fact LAMHE was miles ahead of the rest of the competition that year. Unfortunately it lost out as IGNORANT folks here couldnt understand that film ... Tell me why would a filmmaker like to take risks when he knows that audiences (like the ones who pamper these immature films like MDK etc.) will ditch it in the first weekend itself ?
