What is the signal path?

TV camera Broadcasts originating in India are PAL. So they must be transferred to NTSC. That is fine.

What about Indian Films or Film songs. If these are originally prepared for PAL broadcasts, then definitely there is PAL to NTSC conversion. In this case DVD will give a better quality, as most of the DVDs are direct Film to NTSC.

I DO NOT want to see any film material converted to PAL and then to NTSC (or “Film to NTSC and then to PAL”).

TV broadcasts of film material should be direct Film to TV system whether it is NTSC or PAL. Otherwise DVD is better.

Rana

P.S.
1) Note that all high quality TV programs, intended for broadcasts in different countries (TV systems) are shot on film to avoid system conversions. In the case of Films, Film already is available, so no excuse for system conversion.
2) We (North Americans) are lucky so far that NTSC has become standard for Indian DVDs. Remember VHS days, where the norm became PAL and NTSC tapes were mostly converted copies.

I am going to assume that none of you guys have hear of hacked smart cards which get you all channels from any satellite co. without paying for it. Yes, you do pay to hack the signals and program your card.

1st time to program a working card in good condition:
==========================================
this costs approx. .$80 - $100. There is no guarantee how long will this last, general experience says around 5-6 months.

Next time when the cards go bad:
============================
revisit the shop/person again, pay $50 to re-program it.

So effectively, you pay $50 for 5 months ($10 per month) to see 5 quality Indian channels + PPV sports including cricket and PPV movie channel.

Compare that to shitty, utter crappy ATN on Rogers who lack any intention to serve better quality and better programs. I know it, I have spoken to Chandra who owns ATN. He is not too different than chu** Darshan Sahota

Initial cost
==============
is around $400 which will include A Dish / A Rec. / A programmed smart-card. Prices vary from person to person and since it is not a legit business, bargains are possible. Do your homework and research.

[B]All prices I mentioned are in Canadian Dollars

I'm in Houston, Texas and i know that this might have been true(5-6months) in the past but now they are zaping the illegal cards like every other day. Unless you have the program yourself to reprogram the card this could get costly and very tedious.

out!!!!!!!!

In Canada Dishnetwork is labled Grey market satelittles and they have been taken to court and satelittes on customers houses were about to be taken off by police. The grey marketers did get a grant to stay until the case is ongoing. They had said in Canada government is with freedom of speech and this falls into that category but companies like Rogers, Bell and Starchoice are all against it.

My friend has a grey market dish and it gets zapped often. I was considering getting one myself because of all the channels that were offered but decided against it because of the zapping and irritation of getting it programmed every so often myself or through someone.

As I said before.. 4-5 months on a dish network satellite.. I think that is not bad.

Also, it very much depends on what hardware/software you use to program your card. There are many many people and web sites with different versions of hware and sware.

I believe if you are getting zapped more often than 3 months, you are being ripped. My programmer even gives me 3 months guarantee, if within that time my card zaps, he programs it for free. Don't ask me who, I aint telling
