I just recieved a copy of Bawarchi from India Weekly. I was very surprised to see the cover of it as being Eternal Classics.
The print was excellent and the sound was clear. When I saw this movie, many moons ago, I had forgotton that Big B had done the background commentry on this movie

Included below is the review by Michel Hafner. Enjoy

Hi Pardesi,

I read the little synopsis on this film and it does sound like a good story. I wanted to ask, does it have good music?

The music is by Madan Mohan and the dialogue is by Gulzar.
The movie has very few songs (3) but they are all done well.

Just saw the movie. I must say it was one of the best movies I have seen. For an older movie, I really enjoyed it. It'll remain a classic in my book.

For those of you who watch Mallu flicks, this movie is more along the lines of Sreenivasan's scripts. So now I know why they call him the Hrishikesh Mukherjee(director of Bawarchi) of Malayalam cinema.

Baawarchi is an all time Classic movie from Hirishikesh Mukherjee, who is one of the best directors India has ever produced. Also as far as family movies are concerned, he probably is the best there is. His list of movies amongst many others includes Classic dramas like, Anand, Namak Haram (which has two of the best performances ever by Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachan), Abhiman & Satyakam. Light hearted comedies was also his forte. Classics include, Baawarchi, Gol Maal, Khubsoorat, Naram Garam. All of these titles are a must see.

By the way many of you might have seen Govinda's Hero No.1 which is quite a few shades poorer copy of Baawarchi and Govinda's performance in it was not even a patch on that of Rajesh Khanna's in Baawarchi.

could you kindly post the cover scanned.

The reason i am asking this, cause i haven't seen the cover with the Eternal Classics printed on it. Thanks. ;)

Thanks!
I dont know why, this looks better (to me) than the one before. May be because my favourite colour is black. Or May be i just love Yashraj, and I love the fact that it looks similiar to their covers.

So won't you include Chupke Chupke along with these classics? :?

I would very much include 'Chupke Chupke'. The omission was not deliberate.
