Amazingly, Brilliant Film, PIECE OF ART, Worthy of award/OSCAR nomination!Needed to be included in MUSEUMS and SCHOOLS of ART and FILM MAKING! Just SUPERB!

Man! LAGGAN/DEVDAS and MONSOON WEDDING are considered for awards, and not this UNIQUE PIECE/TREASURE OF ABSOLUTE UNBEATABLE QUALITY!

I have never seen this kinda MARVELLOUS work of ART from HINDI CINEMA before!..period!

Each and every seen, each and every angle, just a piece of canvas, painted by PICASO or MICHAEL ANGELO!

Slow Film, but who cares! NOVEL and BRILLIANT indeed!
This is called the CRAFT film making..the film is CRAFTED by ASOK MEHTA!

DVD by EROS as usual, very low par as compare to calibre of the film, brilliantly, shot, very well told story, amazingly filmed and direcyed by ASOK MEHTA! and Beautifully Acted by RAM PAL/Manisha/Naseer u Din Shah etc!

Guys if u want to see HOW FILM SHOULD BE CRAFTED? Dont miss this one IMHO!

Film Art Students like Sunny Audit and? Must be able to comment more on this! :baaa:   ((((First off, Ashok Mehta is a director with guts not only for tackling a subject with an allegorical message but also for pulling it off with such panache, style, and class. The film will be seen by few and understood by even less, something which perhaps Mehta was aware of while making the movie, knowing the general low-IQ crap being produced by big budget production houses these days. His storytelling is sharp, combining story and substance with stunning symbolism and beautiful cinematography. One particular sequence that sticks in the mind of the viewer after the initial viewing is Manisha´s absolutely brilliant dream sequence midway through the film. Tastefully shot, Moksha will have you stunned with its technical brilliance. Nothing like this has been attempted in an Indian film of late.
The one flaw I found with the movie was that it dragged in places, especially during some of the arty scenes, which were well done, but a tad overlong. Still, Mehta beautifully conveyed his point in the film, and these arty sequences are important to the film, though they will fly over the head of the average moviegoer. Somehow, I still can´t get that haunting image of the statues broken and buried in the sand in the last shot of the film out of my mind!

So please folks. Do me a favor and please don´t ignore this beautiful piece of art. It´s not a perfect film, but it´s just so good. It´s evident why this movie is hitting the Film Festival circuit (It was recently screened at the Cairo Film Festival as well as the Locarno Film Festival). The film even picked up two National Awards at this year´s ceremonies. So don´t listen to some of lame-brained, intelligence-impaired, self-proclaimed trade analysts who gave this film the rotten review treatment. They wouldn´t know a good film if it ran up behind them and bit them (You critics listening?). You´ll be happy for it, believe me!
Moksha is an excellent film that deserves accolades in a world full of manure piles like Yaadein .I can´t stand it when an excellent film goes unnoticed. But hey, that´s the Indian Film Industry for you. ))))))****DON'T MISS THIS ONE DUDES!

But I feel Pitty, this kinda CINEMA has no takers and no goers :stupid: :bangbang:I highly recomend this film for viewing, for, who has not seen it yet? and wish QUALITY CINEMA!should LIVE AND PROSPER!

Yeah Moksha was a great film. However, it may not appeal to some because the storyline is quite slow, with little romance, action, etc. But is quite a good character study of what a man of law may do when sticking to his principals while breaking the law. It's about creating a greater good with lesser evil. Arjun Rampal did well in this and proves that he can act, unlike some other male models.

It's more an intelligent thinking-man's film as opposed to the pretentious wishy-wash crap that comes out of 90% of Bollywood. The film had a sort of hypnotic visualisation to it and reminded me a bit of Dil Se with cinematography like Asoka, only unique in it's own way. Ashok Mehta did good!

Definately recommended!

Arsh,

I also think the film is fantastic. The storyline, the black & white filming was great. The acting of Arjun Rampal is much better in Moksha then in Pyaar, Ishq aur Mohabbat. The movie have a slow storyline but it's worth it !

Too bad that this film doesn't got the great reviews that he deserve, I think all the reviewers want to see the "YashRaj-type" off movies.

Not a bad movie , wasn't so impressed by Arjun Rampal or Manisha but more with the cinematography especially the black and white parts and the court room scenes. Wish DEi had done the dvd......

i wish too, DEI would have made that UNBELIEVABLE camera work by ASHOK MEHTA! LEGENDARY!IMMEMORABLE!

Believe me, i would buy each and every angle of each shot on this film on CANVaS!

Regarding Manisha..I agree we have seen better of her, a lot of time!

Ram pal was Better than he has done any thing else since his debut!! He has its short comings, but indeed that is the best of him till date! :baaa: ;)

I tried looking at this movie when it came out and i was bored to death. I took it off half way through the movie. I was falling asleep. I might give the second half a try sometime. I have it in my collection. It's just sitting there.

i really did think this film was a very good one... but sadly it did not excite the cinemagoers who are used to the routine stuff.. also the pirated versions of the movie which came out before its theatrical release really did it in for this one.. arjun rampal was very good in this film...

Yes u are right Buff!! rampal, aside I think HIGHLIGHTS are UNIQUE way of STORY TELLING, PLOT, CHARACTERIZATION, DIRECTION SKILLS, ARTFULL,ACE DESIGN and FILMING!!

I could not believe I was WATCHING a HINDIFILM, by any Standards!Every thing was so UNIQUE!! I felt like WATCHING some thing coming from ARCHIEVES of CINEMA and ARTS!
HIGHEST POSSIBLE CRAFTMANSHIP! IMHO!

NO goers!! Does not matter, But, at least APPRECIATED by QUALITY GOERS!
It is so Different!! I had seen GOOD ART FILMS by RENOWNED Directors! BUT there was some thing DIFFERENT the way this FILM was CRAFTED by ASHOK MEHTA! My salutes to him!

It got 2 National Awards, Awarded at Cairo Film festival too, But should be Nominated for Oscars IMHO, in Foreign pictures or Cinematographis Category! :baaa: But we live in :stupid: world! of BOLLYWOOD!
