Well! according to my understanding, EROS has only UK dvd rights, USA/International are with Focus Intl.

Eros ? is behind this pirated version/ that is on hold till today?

Don't mean to offend anybody to can somebody give a straight answer.
1) When will Eros release the dvd in the UK? (Shop in Turnpike Lane, London says Monday Morning!!!!)
2) When will Focus Intl release the dvd in the usa?

What kind of extras can we expect from any of the disks.

yaar shmrat if eros release a DVD of Devdas that early then someone in their office should be shot, how the heck are they supposed to make any money back from the movie by doing that. After spending £8mn on the movie I will be very surprised if you manage to get that dvd let us know anyway!

Eros Entertainment will be releasing the Devdas DVD in the USA/Canada. Focus International has nothing to do with the Devdas DVD.

I can back up my statement with the Devdas AD in the July 12th 2002 India Abroad New York Edition. There is a piracy warning at the bottom of the devdas ad by Eros and I quote ("This film will be available for exhibition only in authorized movie cinema halls and will not release in the United States and Canada on videocassette, DVD, or VCD format by anyone other than Eros. Infringers of Eros copyrights will be subject to severe action.")

Also the same thing can be found on Indianwatchdog.com regarding the DVD of Devdas.

i also seen the Devdas DVD by eros, but on the description it mentions the following:

The descrioption you're talking about is the curtain raiser, a sad attempt by eros to milk all the money out of Devdas.

As far as the pirate, I seriously doubt Eros would make a pirate of their own film a day before it releases worldwide. Even if they are up to this (Which I doubt), they're not stupid. There's a certain time period in which the money raked in from the theater and the dvd is balanced out, and that time period isn't -1 days.

having read these views on the pirate version as well as the ones that are doing the rounds on the big screen it seems to me that EROS have really fucked up big time on this movie !!!

i'm not goin into the details of this film being a great classic or just another bollywood movie but the fact that this movie unlike any other has been so well publised in the western media its a shame that even in the cinema's EROS couldn't bring out a decent print !!!

to date i have yet to see a decent EROS dvd of any film in fact i would go on record to say that VASTAAV pirate dvd pissed all over EROS's original dvd !!!

Eros has one chance to make up for the biggest cockup of DEVDAS cinema release by issuing a top class dvd package BUT i won't hold my breath cause the chances of that happening is almost next to nothing going on Eros past track record !!!

here's hoping one of the better dvd authoring house's be it bollywood or hollywood do it !!!

Having watched and loved the film in the cinema I've finally tracked down this Eros pirate. To confirm what has been said earlier the Disk comes in a proper Eros dvd cover/sleeve.
It states the all the usual dvd info but obvisously it isn't the best of prints nor does it have a 5.1 soundtrack.
But I got the dvd for £10 so I can't complain that much

Comparing it to the Hum Tumhare hain Sanam dvd cover the Devdas one pisses on it.

To add insult to injury the cover has all Eros contact info on the back of the sleeve.

All I can say is the dvd is watchable (just) but I'll buy the original when Eros get off their ass and put out their "decent" dvd. :alien: :blush:
