Damm.... cant they get the colors right at least ? ..And why did they let the pathetic SuperDigital (re)author this DVD ?
Shameless, wankers @ YRF..I Think I will wait for this price to go down till it reaches near the 10 Dollar mark @ IW...

Will KKHH be simiarly crap like this dvd? I already have DTPH non anamorphic so im not too bothered about it. I want KKHH and am wondering whether to buy the one already released or to wait for the new one.

They'll use the same process for the KKHH DVD too meaning you won’t notice any significant difference between the two. It could actually end up looking worse - DTPH last batch of shots show less detail on the anamorphic DVD (see crease lines on SRK shirt). The DVD could actually look much closer to the 35mm still photograph if a little effort was put on into the DVD.

The old DVD seems to have a big problem with the reds – blue and greens look OK (they both look the same on both DVDs) but reds are over done on the old one. I don’t remember KKHH having a similar colour problem – so the anamorphic DVD is going to be same as the one already out.

With DTPH - if you haven’t got the old one then it's worth getting the new anamorphic edition - colours are more correct and subtitles will be framed correctly (readable on 16x9 screens). Other than that it has nothing more to offer from the old DVD.

I don’t know why we are talking about buying the Crap DVD by paying more than $20. I have the old one and have not finish watching it for the last 6 months. I think lot of new Eros DVD’s looks better than this one.
And on a side note this has to be one of my favorite movies of all time along with DDLJ.

I personally! dont think, in YRF dirty dvd buisness, superdigital are to be equally blamed!
It is all YRF monoply, based on their vast, famous library of films, that they can sell any crap shit that they will pack as dvd, people will pay $20 for that! To some extent they are pretty successful in their marketing strategy! Who is responsible for their successful but dirty marketing tactics!! i think we ALL who buy their SHITTY classics for $20??

They are the RIGHTHOLDERS of all the films in their library and provide the basic material or source for making dvds or authoring dvd under their own supervision!
If they can make successful/good films, they can GET GOOD DVD WORT THE MONEY too! But nothing like that happens.

For their latest films, they have given better sources, lookk at K3g u get better results! Jitna GUR YRF dalega! Utna Meetha dvd banega! keep film aside!

After 6-7 yrs, they come up with crapy DDLJ that sells as HOT CAKES?

I personally, dont buy their older titles just have a few newer ones starting from DDLJ, till K3g, the rest beyond that a SHIT of its OWN kind, not even worth for 10 pennies IMHO, But peole buy them? I dont?

For the rest like DDLJ, DTPH, KKHH etc, beyond extra features and packing extra, I'll put their worth $10 too!

But, till date the pricing on older version of DTPH/KKHH are around $20 still any ways!
So now question comes? If u are in the market for bUYING those films, will u pay $20 around roughly for that version or the $20 around newer version? Decision is yours? money is yours? Jaeb bhi aapki? Faisla bhi aapka?

but donr forget what EROS have done with HUM AAPKE HAEN KAUN, 4 times????????? :baaa:

I am not personally very happy with the ULTIMATE PRODUCT my self? here! they could haveused, better source for REAUTHORRING, 2 disc edition, putting extras on second disc, providing more space for orig feature? prob re do the menues with the chapter selection available?

But ?? no? question is with YRF, how they can make FOOL of all of us once again, by doing minimal? and making a lot?

But, if u dont have the original one, and have a bigger widescreen TV? IMHO, newer version is way to go??

If you are a hard core DTPH, fan, like I am, i'll have all 3, including bootleg version too??
Peace! Fruit for thought?? :ffs: :baaa:

I must check my DTPH, from what I remember it was a good print, good sound and the colours were strong and vibrant. The same goes for KKHH.

I think I will stick with my DVD's rather than buying the new release, IMO there is hardly any differences to justify paying for these new DVD's.

I was watching, my DTPH orig edition, on my 64 inch HDTV!

Of course, it is letterboxed with orig aspect ratio, there is some squishing visible< esp look out for moon, just before song"chand ne kuch kaha"

It seems like you are watching the whole film, through a red orange, filter?

The detail in surroundings and clearity is less than optimal IMHO.

Colors are very UNNATURAL, so the picture too, lot more GRAINY!

Edge enhancement in Orig version is to extreme, very distracting, to give it a pseudo sharp look!

All those difference might not make any difference? if watching on small tube tv? Std aspect ratio, non widescreen?or PC viwing only??

I dontwant any body to rush judgement and buy new one, unless and until, you are sure!? how much you will gain from a newer version in your own situation? and system?

So, simply, subjective! but needs to keep an OBJECTIVE perspective too? Cheers!!

Well I don’t think either of them can be called a DVD, I have a better VCD version of the film. But I hate to admit that It really sucks to have 92 inch wide screen to watch the peace of shit DVD’s. I should not have upgraded my system, as it is not going to help me increase the viewing experience when watching Indian DVD’s. And I can’t go back to my old TV.

So think twice before upgrading your system. So bigger is not always better.

As I am now getting HBO HD from Timer Warner cable, I can’t even watch a mediocre Hollywood DVD.

i just cannot believe it
look at the comparison shot provided by Ali
the dvd's look so bad
picture on dvds is so pathetic, it is dark, dull, completely lifeless when compared to 35mm still
i did not know YRF dvds were this dark compared to the film
i only own "refugee" by YRF dvd, which does not seem bad
of course i own only a 32 inch tv
anyways, these are the reason i keep away from YRF dvds, but they have so many titles that i would love to own :( angry

There are no better words than this to explain about this so called DVD’s.

I think the better ones PQ wise are K3G(Good), Mohabbatein( average) and Refugee (Ok) from them.

are the people at yrf being pricks and not distributing this dvd?

well shamrat, it seems no one has these new anamorphic editions of dtph and kkhh; at least not any of the good sites (IW and ICDS).

sknath said IW should have it in by last week, but nothing so far. wait for IW to get it, they'll prob. have the best price.
