..In my opinion, I don't think HDDCS was overrated. If anything that was overrated about that film, it was Salman Khan's loud performance. Excluding that, HDDCS was a very beautiful looking & mature love story.

Although I am in total agreement with you on the fact that Salman's was a loud and cheap performance in 'HDDCS' and the film could have risen to much greater heights if only it were not for Salman's presence, but I do not agree that 'HDDCS' was a great film. It was most definately a very over rated film, what with its numerous flaws and crass humor (Salman passing gas etc). Although Sanjay Leela Bhansali is great with the picturizations of the songs in his films (his best work till date is still 1942 A Love Story), he really has no idea of merging the songs into the narrative of the film and more often than not the songs coma as an intrusion in the narrative of the film. He also tends to have way too many songs in his films and also tends to over dramatize his films, to the point where they coms accross as cheap melodrama.
Coming to the film on hand 'Devdas'. If the music and promos are any indication, we ought to be ready for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's most over melodramtic film to date. By the way I think the music od Devdas is at best only ordinary and in fact maybe even poor keeping in mind the theme and scope of the film. The number of songs as usual for a 'SLB' film seem way to many and will I am sure be a drag on the narrative of the film.
