Which version of this DVD has good picture?
There is a EVP version and Shamroo version. The EVP version is on sale, is it worth buying? Any screen shots?

The EVP version is on sale at IndiaWeekly for only $1.99. I havn't seen Shemaroo but EVP prints are generally very good. They seem to screw up the song menu though!

I've only seen the songs from the Saregama DVD, but they must be the same quality as the movie DVD. Pretty good sharpness, but colors are a little faded. Like Aradhana, Amar Prem, etc., the first version was progressive while the second is interlaced.

I wish I could find the EVP version of MGMD. I recently started to watch the movie on the Shemaroo DVD and the picture is bad - but worse still the sound is terrible! It's tinny and hollow sounding and even when I turned the bass up fully on my sound system I couldn't get it to sound good. I stopped watching it after the second song as I couldn't stand the bad sound quality.

this is pretty much a precursor to sholay -- and has "toss of coins" too ;-)

any views on varying runtimes?
are dvds the complete movie as screened theatrically?

I noticed the same while watching the songs of MGMD on a Lata Mangeshkar Shemaroo DVD. The sound is AWFUL. Hence, I decided to trawl YouTube hoping to find if the songs have been ripped from the EVP DVD and uploaded. This is what I found.

Looks and sounds like a proper, delicious meal. Unlike the bland serving by Shemaroo.
