Hey Ragz

Dasak, interesting. I actually somehow ended up with two copies of this movie on DVD. Both of the DVDs that I have are released by Music India. Picture / sound quality are not great and the film print seems to have many cuts. This is really apparent towards the end of the movie.

I love the soundtrack of this film and wanted to love the movie. But I found the narrative to be quite uneven, the ending seemed very rushed (this could be an issue with portions of the film missing from the DVD). What was very engaging was Rehana Sultan's acting. That makes the movie worth watching in itself. Having said that - I found that her character remained under developed. There doesn't seem to be a rounding out of her character in the movie - the ending seemed really forced with nothing really resolved. That is fine as you don't really have to have all of the loose ends tied up to end a movie - but it is so sudden and seems that they tacked on a happy ending however not much changed in the situation. (It is difficult to explain without throwing in major spoilers).

I think I had really high expectations when I watched it - and it starts really well ... however I was disappointed with the movie as a whole. (Rehana Sultan's acting aside - she is awesome!!!) I would recommend watching it once ... and I might try to watch it again - but would look for a different version of the movie (hoping that there is a better version released somewhere).

I don't have access to my DVD at the moment so can't post specs. I believe that it was also released by Indus however I have not seen that version.

Full movie available on Youtube - not sure whether this is cut or not but the print looks very watchable:

Hey muz! Thank you so much for your review. I've seen the Indus version, but wasn't impressed by the PQ. I liked the AQ during the songs (I could only see the songs Mai Ri and Baiyan Na Dharo) and used it for making a re-.mastered version of Baiyan Na Dharo for my channel.
It was the songs and Sanjeev Kumar that attracted me to watch this movie. Rehana Sultan - people told me she was a lousy actress. But thanks for your opinions. Ill keep that in mind. I'll be prepared for a bit of hamming and OTT melodrama since movies of that period generally have it.
Thanks for the link, bhaskar for the link! Couldn't really have expected the quality to be any better. Only if I could fix that annoying 16x9 stretching.

Are you planning on watching this on, or through a PC? You can download the file (using a website like Keepvid.com). If you use a media player like KMPlayer, you can play around with the setting to 'squash' this back to 4:3?
