Everyone seems to have forgotten that Mere Yaar ki shaadi hai also released today....
IndiaFm has given it a decent review and also in the box office reports the film has got a much better opening than the two bhagat singh films....

Yaar! sorrry! par tum eng sub titles waale ABCDS naen bohat tang kiya haey!! My apologies!I hate to watch subtitles on big screen..It is a bUMMER for me, just takes the whole action to the bottom of the screen!

But not ur fault, jab zaban samajh na aaey tou kiya karaen..Majboori hai!
I wish they would have an option in theatre with speciall glasses on!? for theon to watch with subtitles and for me with no subtitles..Any one TECH GEEKS??

Secondally, now with International release with songs cut??
I hate it, u should have both options, in selected theatres? possibly?? With songs, and on otherscreens with SONGS??

On dvd too, like this new RATING settling software in manufacturing? that can let u watch, a rated r film at PG level..I would love that for people with families!
So if simillar software can let us watch, LAGAAN, MK and DEVDAS with or without songs?? tou kaisa hai, you can omit any song that u think hamer flow of story or omit all from the feature and watch them as SONGS ONLY?? Kaisa hai?
Hum ganon ke deewane DESI bhi Khush aur Ganoon se Anjaney Farhangi aur PAEUDO FARHANGI bhi Khush!
In net shell! KKKG??? :baaa: :baaa:

Kaun banega krorepati aisa software banake?? :xmas: :ffs: :tounge:
It will make us all HAPPY without any EXCLUSION!IMHO

thanks arsh

i think one of the main reasons why films like k3g "appeal to international audiences" is because they are shown with subtitles in theatres. half the movies i want to see in the theatres, i can't, because there are no subtitles.

i just hope devdas has subtitles, cuz i don't want to be stuck having to watch it on the crap dvd eros is going to throw out.

kaindiazINC., think about the non-hindi speaking audience.

if bollywood wants to entertain the world, it needs subtitles.

Well, I agree but they really should have another theater screening the same movie without the subtitles.

If Bollywood wants to entertain the audience in the west then they need original PLOTS and not sub-standard stories like MYKSH ( MBFW in english !) I can understand why folks are hesitant to put the subtitles as folks will completely be bored to death with the crappy rehashed version of a very good Hollywood film !

Now with original films like LAGAAN, ASOKA & Devdas I can understand the need for subtitles (An English/French DUB) would be better and I can assure you women folk will come out with at least a few tissue papers soiled !...(Devdas in this case)

Huh!? I think they have something called DVD, where you can skip to the next chapter after a song. ;)

Why show the SAME movie in two theaters when they probably couldnt sell out the second theater, therefore losing money. I agree, if they expect to market their films outside of India, then they better slap on those subtitles in English.

SKnath, did you see the movie yet? Or are you just making an opinion on reports from 5 months ago, according to the review from Rediff, they report "If you thought Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai was an Indianised version of the superhit romantic comedy starring Julia Roberts, Cameron Diaz, Dermot Mulroney and Rupert Everett My Best Friend's Wedding, think again. " Is this review wrong? Is what you saw My Best Friend's Wedding with Indian actors? Please let us know. :p

Naven just as I cant claim that an old film like PARICHAY (jeetendra) was an exact replica of THE SOUND OF MUSIC (Julie Andrews ), similarly I cant state with absolute certainity that MYKSH is a frame by frame rehash of MBFW. However, the storyline ( as read from online sites) makes it eerily similar to the english version alebit with the usual Bollywood saying "with a twist!" ( in short loads of Bull shit ).. and nope I didnt read the Rediff review ( as I already made up my mind not to watch that film cos It would be a sheer waste of money thats all ...) .... Period !

yes sknath, bollywood does need original plots, but there needs to be a greater percentage of movies that include subtitles. i guess as bollywood gets better, there will be more subtitled movies. and i'm not the biggest fan of dubs either, they add a level of fakeness.

there are many non-hindi speaking people (ie. guyanese and trinidadian people) interested in hindi films who can't watch them in the theatres because of the lack of subtitles. maybe i'm only thinking about myself, but i hate it that i can only watch a few hindi films a year in theatres.

i hope to get a good understanding of hindi within the next few years or so, so that i won't need subtitles, but until then, i'm stuck.

on a side note, does anyone have any ideas on how i can learn hindi quickly?

Three quick points....

English subtitles: Just leave them for the dvds. These are Hindi movies. Subtitles totally distract your attention, ruin punchlines, and the such. Anyone who can't even speak Hindi can walk into a Hindi film and understand the general plot easily. But, please, leave the subtitles out!

Learning Hindi: There's a simple method to this... Rent the dvd, turn on subtitles, and hear for the words. Once you see a word you didn't know, write it down, and learn it. Keep doing so with your entire collection of Hindi dvds. It's a bit of effort, but goes quickly, and it's enjoyable

MYKSH's opening: If this film does better than LOBS, I will be sorely disappointed in the Indian audience. MYKSH is typical Yash Chopra stuff (directed by a protege of his). LOBS, on the other hand, is not typical patriotic drivel (like Bharat Baghya Vidata, or Maa Tujhe Salaam). It is a very well-done film, and very different. Encourage such films. Watch LOBS in theater.

Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai enters British charts (After Rockin buisness of HTHS)

Yahraj Films' Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai has entered the British film charts at number 12 this week. After collecting £70,532 from just 20 theatres, it has also got the highest screen average, beating most Hollywood films.

The film starring Uday Chopra, Jimmy Shergill and newcomer Sanjana also beat the two Bhagat Singh film -- The Legend of Bhagat Singh and 23rd March 1931 -- Shaheed.

Kool Brit Desis Rock!!! U give all the blood and flesh to BOLLYWOOD industry to survive! :baaa: :vsneaky:

Without u they can never churn GREAT FILMS like MOHABTAEN/K3G/YAADEIN /YRPK..and many mores!!

I loved this one??

YAAR KI SHAADI TO BARBAADI HAI!

http://ww.smashits.com/index.c....ID=1727 :baaa:

(Technically, the film is found wanting. In addition to the poor direction, the music by Jeet-Pritam is uninspiring. Gadhvi will have to get his basics right before he embarks on his second film. He seems to have no idea of scene creation and stringing of scenes together. As he has also written the screenplay with Mayur Puri (who doubles up as the dialogue writer), the responsibility for this dull film lies entirely on his shoulders. The music tracks looks like a copy of Jatin-Lalit. )
