'Bol Bachchan' Takes Good Opening
6 july 2012

Bol Bachchan took a good opening at the box office with collections around the 60-65% mark on average at multiplexes. Punjab was below the mark as the Punjabi film Jatt and Juliet is still first choice there, the business in the Andhra area of Nizam circuit was low due to a big regional release Eega in the circuit. West Bengal also opened to low 30-35% collections. The rest of country had a good opening.

Delhi city was around 50-55% while UP was 70-75%. Gujarat, Rajasthan and CI all opened to very good houses at around 75% plus. Its not a record breaking type of opening but a good solid start and a good platform to build from on Saturday as a couple regions are affected by regional films while a few centres opened below the optimum mark.

'Bol Bachchan' crosses Rs. 50 crore mark
10 July 2012

After a promising opening day collection of Rs. 12.10 crore, Rohit Shetty's action-comedy Bol Bachchan went nearly houseful on the weekend and amassed Rs. 50.13 crore by Monday. Said to be inspired by 1979 movie Gol Maal, Bol Bachchan, made on a budget of Rs.70 crore, features Abhishek Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, Asin Thottumkal and Prachi Desai.

The movie collected over Rs. 43.10 crore during the weekend after it released July 6. Post the opening day collection of Rs. 12.10 crore, the movie made Rs. 14 crore on Saturday, and approximately Rs. 17 crore.

Presented by Fox Star Studios, the Shree Ashtavinayak Cinevision and Ajay Devgn Films- produced movie is reportedly Devgn and Shetty's biggest opener, having generated 36% higher figures than Singham and around 43% bigger than Golmaal 3.

Distributor Rajesh Thadani of Mumbai-based Multimedia Combine, says the film did well on Sunday and there wasn't a big dip in the footfalls Monday.

"Bol Bachchan has done pretty well all over India during the weekend. It had a business of Rs.38 crore all over India. The film picked up quite well on Sunday, and there was not a great fall on Monday either," Thadani told IANS.

A comical entertainer, Bol Bachchan has been able to pull in audiences in large numbers.

"It is basically family audience that came together to enjoy the film," Delhi-based distributor Joginder Mahajan, told IANS.

"The film has got a tremendous response. It managed to collect Rs. 7.80 crore in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh and Rs. 3 crore in Punjab in first three days. Since school holidays got extended, lots of families came in to watch the movie together and had a good time, said Mahajan.

Piyush Raizada, director, Delight Cinema says despite rains, it was nearly a houseful for Bol Bachchan.

"The movie has received an amazing response and is appreciated among classes and masses. It did extraordinarily well on Friday and Saturday, and went houseful despite the rains," Raizada told IANS.

Internationally too, Bol Bachchan is doing extremely well when compared to other recent releases overseas.

It earned a total of $2.06 million over the weekend -- $540,000 (US), $255,000 (Britain), $650,000 (Middle East), $167,000 (Australia) and $450,000 from the rest of the world.

'Bol Bachchan' Crosses 75 Crore In Ten Days
16 July 2012

Bol Bachchan crossed the 75 crore nett mark in ten days as it grossed 14.75 crore nett approx over the weekend. The ten day business of the film is 75.50 crore nett.

The business of the film was hit on Friday as Cocktail releases but it went up over the weekend. The film was helped by the fact that Cocktail was more of a multiplex film so the single screen business of Bol Bachchan remained largely unaffected. In fact the business in CP Berar on its second Sunday was the same as Cocktail business on its first Sunday.

The film will comfortably cross the business of Singham which had a distributor share of 50 crore while the Bol Bachchan share heads towards 52-55 crore.
