the audio as in 1st batch of bd that i have is much much better and more lively and loud and punchy than the soundtrack in the dvd but yes as far as i remember there is the double beats/ reveberation problem from the front speakers which starts roughly from des rangila song and ends post interval.....!!! and though the dvd doesnt has this problem but the soundtrack sounds muddy as compared to crisp in the bd and surrounds are weak in the dvd.....!!

Thanks for the re-confirmation Diyansh. I however fail to see the benefit in Blu Ray. May be it is the individual perception. What would you prefer of the two? An HD audio that goes for a toss for almost a third of the film's duration in which the most beautful 'Dekho Na' Song occurs or a consistent audio of DVD that makes the song even more beautiful by a compressed but very good 5.1 surround. As far as Muddy v/s crisp issue goes, the atrocious blunder of BD is so grave that I am ready to make up my mind by assuming that the BD never even released at all. Psychologically that makes me feel better and makes me believe that I find the dvd audio as the finest, crisp and the best surround sound experience for Fanaa. Just my 2 cents.

Is there any official explanation from Victor or customer service at YRF regarding this issue?

The only benefit if at all u r getting out of these re-releases is , if it matters to anyone,

1) No Watermark with subtitle off
2) Movie begins immediately after YRF HE logo. i.e. Main Menu is skipped.

Though this doesnt change anything, I just noticed one last item to add to the above list of what is better in the re-released batch:-

3) Subtitles are now 2.35 friendly - appear within the movie area and not on black bars(this wasnt the case with Batch-1). Could be useful info for anyone using the CIH set-up.

Just an FYI, I got the re-authored DDLJ. No idea how it compares to the original release but I was pleasantly surprised at the A/V quality, especially given how poor the dvds have been over the years. There's a marked improvement in colours, details, depth and (lack of) film artifacts. The sound is also heaps better than the dvds.

Obviously it's a 1995 bollywood film and without the sort of expensive restoration that Warner or Criterion can do, its not the best it could look. But if you've only seen this on dvd, I suggest getting this as there is a very noticeable difference.

Is there a way to identify the re-authored vs the old one? Does this version of DDLJ have all the extra content on a separate DVD? If you don't mind me asking, which retailer did you purchase this from? Trying to search for the re-authored BDs but none of the retailers have enough info on their sites.

yes re-authored version has extra features on separate DVD. Movie also starts automatically and defaults to DTSHD-MA track.

I got mine from www.rhythmhouse.in

Thanks! Going to order a couple of BDs from rhythmhouse. I contacted Induna about DDLJ and they are not aware of the re-authored BDs.

What's the latest on YRF Blu Rays ?? Which ones and which versions are sub-standard quality and which ones are genuine Blu Ray quality discs ??

A few YRF BRs I tried recently, some were OK but some were worst than my regular DVD versions that I already had. Silsila and Chak De India were really terrible. They are not even DVD quality. Presently, I don't know what to expect from Blu Ray but Kabhi Kabhi I found OK and the other two, Chak De India and Silsila definitely are worst than DVD PQ.

As I get from this thread, YRF has re-isued some of the problem Rays. I wonder, which ones and which version is genuine BR quality ?? Can anyone pl shed some light on this.

Thanks.
