Is anyone planing to attend "Bachchan Sandhya" at the Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall? The event will be at 7:00 P.M., on Saturday, August 18, 2007, in commeration of the sixtieth anniversary of India's independence. Amitabh Bachchan shall recite his father's, late Harivansh Rai Bachchan, poetry; Jaya Bhaduri, Abhishek Bachchan, and Aishwarya Rai are expected to attend, as well. The event is organized by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.

Bachchan Sandhya ! Hmmm, what does Sandhya mean ?? An Evening Prayer or just an Evening ??

Tickets were $ 35, $ 50, $ 75, $ 100, VIP, VVIP. (VVIP tickets must have been over $ 200 ??)
So, people shelled out upwards of $ 200 to see them recite poems and a Poem Drama (what's the technical word ?? Kavya Drama ?? Like, Saranga was one film where all spoken dialogs were in lyrics ??) or to see Amatabh, Abhishek, Aishwarya or Jaya in person ??

Several of Harivansh Rai Bachchan's poems were recited by Amitabh Bachchan. Abhishek and Aishwarya were also present, though were not part of the program. There was also a pretty nice dance program set up. Altogether, the event lasted a couple of hours; it was well worth the money. The seating was such that even the cheapest tickets got a good view.

Security was checking bags for recording devices at the front door; if you had a camera, it had to be checked in at the lobby.

The shots I took with my digital camera didn't turn out too well; I'll soon post the ones that can be made out. I might put a short video clip up on YouTube. When my film gets developed, if the images are OK, I'll scan some onto my computer.
