Life in a Metro. Has anyone here seen it yet?
I was going to see it but was really put off by the negative views three people I met at the cinema had on it. Apparently only KK Menon and Sharman Joshi were any good in it.
I went on IMDB and saw only negative reviews, where I learnt that Metro shamelessly copied stories from Brief Encounter and The Appartment.
How can they do this if they wanted it to appeal to western audiences?
Do they think westerners would be impressed with their copying?

I don't have much confidence in Anurag Basu. This looks more like a Madhur Bhandarkar film, whom I'm sure would've done a better job.

Saw it last night.....its got a top notch star cast and to their credit they all deliver, but the script is very uni-dimensional...like everyone in the metro has only obsession and that of infidelity, moroseness and such. Anurag Basu has floundered badly with the script. His direction is ok and he has handled his cast competently. Standout performance from Irfan Khan and to a certain extent Konkona Sen. These guys lift the proceedings infinetely. If their stuff can be condensed into a short film or expanded to make out the entire length of the feature, this would have been a much better film.

Mention needs to be made of Sharman Joshi as well. Here's a talented actor that needs to get roles worthy of his craft. From the lanky but spiriteed young boy from GODMOTHER to today, he has certainly come a long way.

No need to go to the theater to watch this I think. Wait and watch on DVD.
