I watched this film, Spanish with English subtitles and oh my !!I liked it!

It was a long movie and orig I thought it might end up a disjointed story telling style like Mexican directors, mani ratnam's gurus!

but even being long, it was part of entire large canvas that keeps you engaged.

there are hardly any males in the film, that by no way makes you miss that gender here!!

I liked Volver, but I find it similar to most of Pedro Almodovar's work. If you've seen any of that guy's stuff, you know that it's not so strong on plotting and story, but more on ambiance and the strong female characters. Good stuff but for me not more memorable than anything else he's done.

I am sorry this was my first dip into his world , so lack of comparison must have worked for me!

I was comparing to recent mexican directed films, babel, Pan's Labryinth and Children of Men!

I saw it last year and liked it. Penelope Cruz really had a main role this time as in Almodovar's previous films she was always a side-character. Her cleavage was quite memorable

I'm familar with some of his other work and liked 'Talk to her' the most, which I'd recommend to others. As some audiences found the Transexual and gay scenes in Bad Education a little hard, so only if you can handle it.

arsh if you liked Volver then check out 'All about my mother'and 'Live flesh'. Btw, Almodovar is not Mexican, but Spanish.

Actually "Y Tu Mama Tambien" is Mexican and is directed by Alfonso Cuaron, who made one of the Harry Potters as well as "Children of Men."

You're referring to "All About My Mother" or "Todo Sobre Mi Madre," another Almodovar.

Yes, that's the one. Actually Arsh, "All about my mother" also has a tranny character in it, so only if you can handle it. I made the mistake of recommending this film to someone who was utterly disgusted with the tranny character.
