Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is not likely to attend the upcoming IIFA awards in Dubai. But it is not clear whether the actor is deliberately boycotting the event or he is too busy to attend it.

The King Khan will be conspicuous by his absence at the event, which, over the period of years, has taken Bollywood to different parts of the world. The last year?s IIFA was held in Amsterdam and this year?s venue is Dubai where the IIFA (International India Film Academy) festival and the awards show will be held from June 14 to 17.




Shah Rukh will not attend the event because he is said to be busy with Farhan Akhtar?s movie Don . Shah Rukh?s co-star in the film, Priyanka Chopra , too, will not make it to Dubai either.

However, there are reports that suggest that the shooting of Akhtar?s film will wrap up before the event in Dubai and the reason for SRK?s not attending IIFA is something else.

Going by the fact that filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma recently chose to scrap his movie ?Time Machine? starring SRK and gave preference to films with Amitabh Bachchan , there is a buzz in the tinsel town about a possible rift between SRK and the Bachchans.

And since Amitabh Bachchan happens to be the brand ambassador for IIFA, much is being read into SRK?s absence at the event.

In fact, certain sources are quoted as saying that SRK will be holidaying in London with his family during the IIFA.

Even two SRK loyalists, Karan Johar and Farah Khan , won?t attend the show. Farah will be working on her husband?s movie Jaaneman , while Karan is said to be busy in the post-production work of Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna .

SRK, on his part, has never spoken a word against the Bachchans till date. So the rumour of the rift between him and the Bachchans may be nothing more than just the fanciful imagination of some doomsayers. And it doesn?t seem likely that SRK would spoil his good relations with the Bachchans just because a director gave preference to Amitabh over him.

Moreover, SRK doesn?t have much reason to attend IIFA because it is Big B and Abhishek who are likely to win awards in the major categories.

With or without SRK, this year?s IIFA still would be a star-studded event. Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai are likely to walk the ramp together at the event.
