Sonu Nigam had to get it without any doubt, but well the people have voted for HR instead.

Although I don't agree with Himesh Reshammiya getting it, I have to admit that I think Sonu Nigam is largely overrated as well.

Sonu Nigam is a pretty talented singer, but he's no Adnan Sami — :-D! Subjective as that statement is, I think it's supported by hearing "Sun Zara," which was sung by Sami, then re-sung, by Sonu Nigam, for the film, Lucky — No Time for Love (likely, as it was thought more suitable for Salman Khan [on whom the song was pictured]). I feel that Sami's rendition is just...better.

I think Adnan Sami and HS are more good for the SUFI kind of music. I like them both, its just that I like Sonu Nigam a little more.

Bollywood star sues film magazine

Khan has shunned Bollywood ceremonies for many years
Bollywood star Aamir Khan is going ahead with legal action against a film magazine for using his photograph in a film awards campaign.
Khan is demanding 210 million rupees ($4.7m) and an apology from the magazine, Filmfare.

He is also asking the publishers not to use his name or picture without his prior consent.

The publisher is Worldwide Media, a joint venture between BBC Worldwide and India's Times Of India group.

Khan is known to stay away from all Bollywood award ceremonies.

His lawyer Anand Desai told the BBC that the actor had objected to the use of his photograph and a comment in a promotional advertisement by the magazine that suggested that "he is endorsing Filmfare" magazine.

The advertisement appeared in The Times of India newspaper.

Mr Desai said they were waiting to hear from the publishers before deciding on their next step.

Khan shuns Bollywood film award ceremonies, and has never accepted an award from them since 1989 when he won a Filmfare award for the best debut by a male actor for his debut film, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak.

This year, he was nominated by Filmfare for the best actor's category for his performance in Mangal Pandey (The Rising).

Khan, however, did not attend the award show.

Aamir Khan has delivered a number of big hits such as Ghulam (Slave), Sarfarosh (Zealous) and Dil Chahta Hai (The Heart Wants).

----------------

Good for Aamir Khan.

Sorry but I so disagree with that one .. He was annoying in this flick .. I never laughed once at his scenes, John and Paresh Rawal were funnier than him from this same flick. Filmfare awards sucked anyway this year ..

Thanks, Urbanlegende. Here're "my" winners (of the nominees):

Best Film: Black. Parineeta, too, was great. Page 3 was quite good, though significantly over-rated, and, by no means, "best-picture material." How the flying f*** are No Entry and Bunty Aur Babli up for "best picture"? They were two of the worst films of the year.

Best Director: Sanjay Leela Bhansali (for Black), or Pradeep Sarkar (for Parineeta). (Clearly, however, everyone in India would be immediately killed if Bhansali didn't get it.)

Best Actor: Amitabh Bachchan (who cares what for?). Is anyone surprised by my choice? Aamir Khan was good in Mangal Pandey, though Toby Stephens stole the show. Saif Ali Khan was rather commendable in Parineeta (maybe he should do more films in which he doesn't, in disbelief, exclaim, "dude" every 10–15 seconds). Abhishek Bachchan? In Bunty Aur Babli?! You have to be fucking kidding me.

Best Actress: Rani Mukherjee (for Black). She was just brilliant. Sharmila Tagore was great in Viruddh, but it goes to Rani, hands down. That said, Mukherjee sure as shit didn't deserve an award for her work in Bunty Aur Babli, and Preity Zinta for Salaam Namaste? What the hell happened here? Maybe each category has to have a mainstream nominee that didn't bomb at the box office. (Vidya Balan, in Parineeta was very good, but she just doesn't get to beat Rani out of her award.)

Best Supporting Actor: Naseerudin Shah, for Iqbal. Again, why the f*** is Bunty Aur Babli (Abhishek Bachchan) in this? He was OK (read, "OK") in Sarkar, but that doesn't excuse another nomination in the same category, for sub-par work in a not-too-great film. Amitabh Bachchan was the best thing in the film, but Shah still gets to bag this one.

Best Supporting Actress: Bipasha Basu in No Entry? Shitty work in a shitty role in a shitty film? Wow. Shefali Shah was great in Waqt, but it's close between her and Shweta Prasad (for Iqbal).

Best Actor in A Comic Role: Rajpal Yadav, for Waqt. Really, it might be Amitabh Bachchan, for Bunty Aur Babli, but, hey, [actual]nominees only. Salman Khan should never be nominated for anything but the Indian equivalent of the "Raspberry." Akshay Kumar tried hard in Priyadarshan's Garam Masala, but, at the end of the day, he was lack-luster in an "eh" (at best) movie. Anil Kapoor was OK, but it was more that he was surrounded by morons (and a surprisingly likebale Lara Dutta).

Best Performance in A Negative Role: Amitabh Bachchan, for Family (it's grown on me, a bit)! No? Fine. Amitabh Bachchan in Sarkar (he was a villain...wasn't he?)! No? Damn it! Kay Kay Menon, in Sarkar. Twice he;s been on-screen with Amitabh Bachchan, and both times he's certainly held his own. Great, great performance. Kicked Abhishek's ASS (as far as performance is concerened) in this film.

Best Music: Shantanu Moitra, for Parineeta; or Himesh Reshammiya, for (the bull-shit film) Aashiq Banaya Aapne). Not much else to say, here.

Best Lyrics: It should be Gulzar, hands down, right? Apparently, no. When the guy's writing for Bunty Aur Babli, his name doesn't get him that far (and his work was anything but "great, classic Gulzar"). It's between Sammer (Aashiq Banaya Aapne) and Swanand Kirkire (Parineeta). I don't care: flip a fucking coin.

Best Playback Singer (male): Man, poor choices. I really can't give enough of a shit to make a selection with this one.

Best Playback Singer (female): Read above.

I'll look at the winners and post my thoughts later. Right now, it's time to take a wicked piss. Take care.
