I did not see a thread about this great flick. Its such a great movie. Shantanu Moitra doing a superb job with the background score once again. The sound design is wonderful. The writing of Sudhir Mishra is top notch and the direction excellent. Without doubt his best work so far.

Set against the turbulent times of the Emergency era, it beautifully weaves the lives of three college mates and their relationships. It is made in the same vein as the new wave movies of the mid-seventies but is such a wonderful tale told. At times its telling reminded me of NEW DELHI TIMES(Ramesh Sharma).

Shiney Ahuja and Chitrangada are wonderful. Kay Kay is being the same as he was in CHHAL or for that matter any other movie he has been in including BHOPAL EXPRESS. I hear he is exceptional in PAANCH but one does not know when that will see the light of day !

Its a pity such movies dont run, but once again the market for the cerebral fare has always been on the ebb or non-existent. If you care for good cinema, you would watch this one.

Yet another movie that I'm waiting to get my hands on. It's on my long list of movies that I'm having trouble finding:

Black Friday (really really want to see this)
My Brother Nikhil
Bose
and Hazaron Khwaishe Aisi

Managed to watch this finally, totally wasn't expecting a social political movie (I don't why I thought this was a comedy  ) Anyway much enjoyed it, it’s quite refreshing from the norm. It’s very well made with good direction and complex characters. The movies dialogues are mainly in English and should be accessible by all. I found it gripping to end just to learn the fates of the three main leads in the end. Recommended!

Waiting for a decent release of Black Friday and hopefully Paanch will make it out one day too. Quite enjoy these types of movies.

Just another vote for this flick. I just watched this one and it is definitely my favorite film of the year. I was especially glad to see that Eros did not censor the swears out. :)

I want to pick up the Shemaroo DVD--anyone know if it's censored?

I purchased the Shemaroo DVD and it's really very well done. There are all Hindi expletives in it so it does not appear to be censored.

However, one entire batch had a small defect -- an entire chapter would skip on most DVD players...

Hmm...there are a lot of English expletives on the Eros DVD...

Even Shemaroo has English expletives as well. Don't know about Eros having Hindi expletives but Shemaroo certainly has...

Indian censors tend to (in most cases) allow English expletives and disallow Hindi ones. Given that Shemaroo has Hindi expletives, either the theatrical movie or at least the DVD or both appear to have escaped the censors' wrath.
