The Tamil hit, `Kaadhal,' produced by director Shankar's S Pictures, has been selected to be screened in the World Cinema section at the 49th London Film Festival, known as The Times — London Film Festival, which will take place at London from October 19-November 3. The film, that has Bharat and Sandhya as the lead pair will be screened on two days — October 21 (16.00) and October 24 (20.30) — at National Film Theatre 3. `Kaadhal' catapulted Bharat (who had made a lukewarm debut in `Boys') and new-find Sandhya to fame.

The film, which was based on a true story, won wide acclaim with the Tamil audiences here and was a grosser. The film has now been dubbed in Telugu as ` Premisthe' and is scheduled for release on October 7. Balaji Shaktivel, the director of `Kaadhal,' will introduce the film to the international audience and also take part in the question and answer session that will follow.

i like this film so much that i am happy to see it featured at the London Fest - this is a very "tamil" film and i 'think' it will be Lost in Translation :( , but still i "hope" the magik of cinema will overwhelm the cultural boundaries draw by it.

Based on a true story - a Tamil teenage love affair with a twist - Aishwaraya is the spoiled but lonely daughter of the local Mafia Don. When she and her school mates are out teasing traffic she inadvertently causes an accident and literally bumps into a young street mechanic Murugan who scolds her soundly Aish is shocked, but going home she just can't get him out of her head. A mega-crush develops and she turns up at his garage each day. Murugan is confused by this smiling stalker, but confident Aish chats him up and he is soon won over. The two young people from different sides of the tracks begin meeting secretly, and full-scale love in all its electrifying splendour hits them head on. Knowing they can never be together in their small town they make a pact to elope, but as their bus pulls away from the station heading for the big city, Aish's daddy from hell finds out. Sakthivel deftly adapts the formulas of Tamil commercial cinema to combine graphic realism, unadulterated joy and seismic action sequences, spun together with some wildcard editing and sparkling photography.

Unfortunately its a true story and thats what makes it so shocking and sweet and ultimately the "faith" in humans is withheld - Real life is far from Reel life and sometimes "truth is stranger than fiction" !

Unfortunately, here in Holland, Tamil films are nowhere to be found. In all Indian video stores I go to, there is not even one Tamil film for rent or sale. I really wanna watch Mani Ratnam's KANNATHIL MUTHAMITTAL, MOUNA RAAGAM & ANJALI. The only Tamil film I've seen - actually only the last hour of it - is KANDUKONDAIN KANDUKONDAIN, when it was broadcasted on national television a couple of years ago.
