2007 is a bad year for Yash Raj: Numerologist

July 05, 2007 14:47 IST

A still from Ta Ra Rum Pum

Numerologist Niraj Mancchanda had predicted long before the release of Yash Raj Films' Ta Ra Rum Pum and Jhoom Barabar Jhoom that they would not open well at the box office.
Ta Ra Rum Pum [Images] totals number 38 and Jhoom Barabar Jhoom totals number 59, and both numbers do not vibrate with Yash Raj Films founder Yash Chopra [Images] and his son Aditya Chopra [Images], the studio's creative mastermind.

He adds that even though Yash Chopra is a number nine and Aditya Chopra is a number three; and both numbers vibrate with the year 2007, this year will not be good for Yash Raj Films.

He predicts the fate for the other YRF releases this year:

Yash Raj Films totals number 33, which is Laxmi's number and the number vibrates with both Yash and Aditya Chopra. But two planets, the retrogate Jupiter and the shifting of Saturn to another house will not only damage their banner's goodwill but will also give them monetary losses.

Since film distribution is my family business I know what kind of business Ta Ra Rum Pum and Jhoom Barabar Jhoom has done in India.

Shimit Amin's Chak De India, which stars Shah Rukh Khan [Images], and will release in August -- totals number 32. It will do below expectations as well. The business will be on the basis of holidays only, and will be nothing great.

Pradeep Sarkar's Laaga Chunari Mein Daag is scheduled to release in October. It totals number 65. This will fare below average; and will not open to full houses.

Madhuri Dixit's [Images] comeback film, Aaja Nachle totals number 26. It will be a box office disaster, which will shock everyone.

Next year's Tashan will be a hit because of its lead actor, Akshay Kumar [Images].

So, we need a "numerologist" to predict that a big star's (Madhuri Dixit's) come-back vehicle will fail and that a Shah Rukh Khan film that doesn't have him playing the clean-shaven romantic hero won't kick financial ass? Wow. ( )

OR someone could just take a gun, point one directly into the forehead of one of these "numerologist" and ask the question of "what's gonna happen within the next 10 seconds? Or did you predict this already last night during star-track?". (YES! another filmi inspirational moment).

How about they publish their predictions months before the film comes out?

Did a quick search for Laaga Chunari Mein Daag, and this thread came up, so I thought I'd post this here.

Indiafm have done an interview with Jaya Bachchan, link here:http://www.indiafm.com/features/2007/10/08/3102/index.html

They've obviously thought about the questions in a lot of detail:
How was it like working with Konkana?
How was it like working with Rani Mukherji?
What was it like working with Kunal Kapoor?
What was it like working with Pradeep Sarkar?
What was it like working with Abhishek?

Hey, so, the numerologist was dead wrong about Chak De India, wasn't he? Not only was it very good, but, I believe, it tore up the box office. In your face, people's beliefs! 8)

Just noticed this................every other YRF film will flop because of the numerology, but this one will be a hit because of it's actor........

I wonder if the numbers in the numerologist's name add up to equal 'w@nker' (pardon my language).
