Recently, Time magazine announced its list of the 100 greatest films of all time, and the eclectic selection includes five Indian films.

While none would question the brilliance of the selected Indian classics like Satyajit Ray's Apu Trilogy, Guru Dutt's Pyaasa and Mani Ratnam's Nayakan, rediff.com decided to ask Indian filmmakers, artistes, technicians and critics what they felt were the best Indian films of all time.

Today, we feature director Vipul Shah, director of Aankhen and Waqt: The Race Against Time.

Shah believes limiting it to ten films is virtually impossible.

In last week Anandha Vikatan (Tamil weekly) there was an interview with Mani. Asked about how he felt about Nayagan selected among top 100, he said, there are definitely better movies than Nayagan but he is happy that Nayagan got selected. He mentioned that the entire crew of Nayagan wanted to achieve something and the result is the movie.

Asked about taking a movie with Kamal and Rajni, he mentioned that the time has passed now. The are "UP" there and I need to sacrifies my script for them, so its not possible.

A very sensible director indeed .

Happy to see Ritwik Ghatak's "Meghe Dhaka Tara"
