Amitabh in Kannada film
In a career spanning three decades the big B of Indian cinema has acted in films directed by South Indian directors and produced by South producers. He even produced a Tamil film Ullasam (Ajith –Vikram starrer) and a Malayalam film under his ABCL banner, but did not make even a single guest appearance in a South Indian regional film. Usually when anyone ask whether he would act in a South movie he would reply “If my friend Rajini calls me". Now, Amitabh Bachchan has made his debut in his first South Indian regional language film and it is Amrutha Dhaare in Kannada.
For Amrutha Dhaare, Amitabh Bachchan completed four days of shooting in Mumbai. He played the savior of Dhyan, the leading man in the film. Ramya, the top actress in Kannada plays, is the female lead.
Insiders say that Nagathihalli Chandrasekhar, director of Amrutha Dhaare took four months to convince the legend of Indian cinema Amitabh Bachchan to accept the offer to act in it. According to close sources, the unit is currently shooting in Ladakh. It was the fight scene for the film Coolie shot in Bangalore that pushed Amitabh to the brink of death. Similarly the ABCL beauty pageant show in the ‘garden city’ was one of the biggest disasters that took place in ABCL's history and burnt a hole in the pocket of the legend. Coincidentally, this month we saw the comeback of Kamal Haasan to Kannada cinema with the remake of Sathi Leelavathi. K V Raju and S Ramanathan are among the few Kannadigas who have directed Big B in Hindi films.
