Ketan Mehta's Cannes outing has been rather fruitful as his Amir Khan starrer 'The Rising'/'Mangal Pandey' , has finally got an overseas distributor . Ketan disclosed it to a well known lady scribe who is also in Cannes to cover the festival .

As may be recalled , Yash Raj are distributing 'The Rising'/'Mangal Pandey' in India , but are paying outright price only for Bombay territory and for the remaining territories /circuits , they are insisting on distributing the heavily priced film on commission basis .

**lets hope for a good dvd possibly? :?:

'The Rising' is a hit at Cannes

By Our Correspondent ©2005 Bollyvista.com

A Still from 'The Rising'
Producer Bobby Bedi held a special screening of the Aamir Khan-starrer 'The Rising' at Cannes for select buyers. The reports we received are that the film was so immensely enjoyed and lapped up by the trade that every international territory was sold almost instantly.

Needless to add, all connected with the film are rejoicing. The eagerly awaited 'The Rising' is scheduled for an August release.

At last, an Indian film we can all be proud of! Maybe this'll be the 'breakthough' film the industry was waiting for? Though according to a programme I saw ealier today, there was no Indian films at Cannes this year. :?

I find that strange too. Also, besides Satyajit Ray's PATHER PANCHALI no other Indian film is listed on their site.

It was screened like hundreds of others for buyers. It was not part of the festival, it was part of the market at the festival.

I see. :)

I hope THE RISING won't be postponed any longer, because they're taking just too much time to release it! :x
