Can someone tell me what is the name of the Hollywood Original made years back. it was mentioned on this forum, but the title has sliped my mind?

It was Miracle Worker in deed.
I rented it. If I remember correctly, it was B/W. Miracle Worker may be original, but Black is an improvement IMHO.

Actually, even Miracle worker was not the first film on Helen Keller. Hence, not original. There were some other TV/Films before.

Well, Rana and others, I got privilege to watch BLACK finally!!

No doubt film is GOOD to an extent but OVER HYPED mostly!!

For Courageous theme, topic, Grandiosity, Larger than life characters, performances to some extent and technical fineness!! It is a GOOD film, and of course it elevates the ordinary garden variety Hindi cinema, i.e johar, chopra, bharjatiya, ghaii, bhatt kinda cinema to a different level.

It is technically a good film, so Lakshya was too.
It has good message, so did Swades too.

But, now I have to use my but unfortunately, SLB strive to create larger than life, surroundings, characters, back drops and grandiose, has killed the simple, human, sensitive,modest, down to earth, touching,and sincerity elements.

Here I am comparing to his own Khamoshi( I am so glad he was not able to get Jaya/AB for Nana/Seema role) Some times I think, second best r the best, and Manisha, Seema, Nana, are or were inferior than would be Madhuri/AB/Jaya? I don't think so!

Second film is Sadma, it was not lavish, Grand, technically brilliant film but characters/actors were not LARGER THAN LIFE, just simple, ordinary human beings like you and me!! Who have their strength and weaknesses.

Thirdly, look at film like Forest gump e.g and see how it touches you with its simplicity and success of a handicap over the obstacles!!
I wish I would have felt the same thing for BLACK, but I did not!! It did not MOVE me!!unfortunately.

Another good film, that showed the glory of human spirit over handicap was BEAUTIFUL MIND. A beautiful film, and simply brilliant , natural, understated performances by both Russel and Jennifer!

It might be rani's best performance to date!! but IMHO, was not AB's best performance !!
SLB made an unnecessary BLOND BOBBLE HEAD out of him! IMHO, if AB has done this role, with less dramatic approach and understatement, results would have been outstanding.
Well, they can be awarded, no prob with me!! But I have my reservations!

I think SLB has been plagued with LARGER THAN LIFE CINEMA, after KHAMOSHI and his all 3 films since then PROVE that, including the cast there!!
Where he is going around like Johar/Chopra, Ghaii, scheme!!
Collect the most happening things of the day and create a story around them..

I am sorry!! I DON'T BUY THAT KINDA CINEMA!! where CHOPRAS will make a story of TWO DOGS, e.g, it will be still AB and SRK, and WOLF< BAD DOG..will be DAMN DEV-GUND!

** I know there will be a lot of right ones, who will be ready to chew my head off if they can? for going against their opinion! But if I can find a few left ones who are hamnawa, then I am fine! and not afraid to raise my voice against majority.

IMHO. Black is OVERALL, good film, average box office suffice that! my rating will be 7.5-8/10.

I think Sensitive films need, simplicity, modesty, humble approach,honesty and integrity to work! and IMHO, Khamoshi had it, well it flopped( because it was too advance for its times) and Black lacks it!

Come on guys, those multi million mansions, paintings, high society ball, antique cars and buggies, rani's beautiful red high lights and done eye brows!! A girl who cant walk straight can groom herself with perfect UP DO DATE highlights!!

I am glad SLB did Khamoshi, when he did not have exuberant funds on his hand to pay AB etc, 1 crore for 4 hrs work...what a pity!!
