Its hard to believe this though. I myself sold over 400 CDs and I cant believe I sold 1% of the total sales. Also in coimbatore the store I know sold more than 1000 first day itself and I cant believe it is sold only 45000.

A good marketting (probably by RPG) would have definitely done justice to this product, but nevertheless, I must admit that IR has a huge fan base across south india.

Whatever IR do next, he must do it in Telugu also, since I have seen a great interest in Telugu community for TIS and I have sold quite a solid number of CDs to telugu folks, who doesnt understand Tamil, but bought TIS for IR.

The delays in release certainly did not help. They should have confirmed everything before announcing when it would be released.

Very sad indeed ( i am lil suprised myself at a 1 crore loss !) - i hope this doesn’t stop any future endeavors by the master and Tamil Mayium

BTW - DU how was the sales in US , any numbers ??

First week itself TIS-USA sold about 4000 CDs, so even if you say its $10/CD after all expenses, they made 40,000. But the target was about 10000 CDs. Last time a tamil CD sold 10000 copies was back in 95/96 after that none of the tamil CD crossed 1000 pieces in USA.

Few issues for the lower sales

1. Not released by big companies
2. Not enough marketting. No marketting at all in UK and Canada, where tamil CDs does far better than USA
3. The product didnt reach retailers. I am lucky to get involved from the beginning, otherwise retailers didnt have any clue abt this product

We can keep on adding, but neverthelss, we shld appreciate TIS=USA for the wonderful job they have done. If they can sell 4000 CDs in first week,then this really shows their effort.
