Just read the preview and it sounds exactly the same. I wouldnt be surprised if the movie is ripped from Identity, word for word. After watching dodgy remakes of other hollywood films, such as Padmashree laloo prasad yadav and blackmail, It seems as if there simply is no creativeness left, apart from the odd bit of genius like swades and black. I reckon the directors of these movies were probably having a party round their house and getting drunk, etc and the english movies came on the tv and they thought "yeah yeah lets copy that film, no one will know"

Its hard to find any hindi movie now a days which are not copied from hollywood. In the recent releases

Black - miracle worker (exact copy - so no hope for oscar nomination)
Zeher - out of time (another exact copy)

Hindi movies dont have original screenplay, tamil and telugu movies are fighting for "STAR" value (in tamil - every single actor watned to be like Rajinikanth, so that leaves the movies crap with action and bloodbath - they dont know that rajini acted in some extremely good movies before attaining a star value), so are we good in the hands of hollywood?

I don't mind them copying the english flicks ONLY IF THEY write that "insipired from" in the titles...I hate it when the director says that the idea came to him when he was taking a shower or eating dinner..GIMME A BREAK!!

I loved Black but when I went and saw The Miracle Worker..I was shocked that how even Bhansali copied the script. IT wont get an oscar nomination because The Miracle Worker already received oscars for the same screenplay.

I think Bhatt Camp is the worst in ripping English movies like Zaher(out of time), Saaya(Dragonfly), Jism(Body heat)..

Indian movies will ONLY win an oscar if something honest is tried. I think if someone makes the story of Nelson Mandela that may get an Oscar...

Identity was a bad movie to start with so I dont know what Deepak Tijori is thinking in copying the script.

What do you think about:

Netaji - The Forgotten Hero, Shyam Benegal's film on Subhash Chandra Bose

Coming from Shyam Benegal, it may very well be Oscar material like Gandhi.
----------------------------

Oscar or no Oscar, I found Black better, polished, more gripping and proferssional work than Miracle Worker. In the credits, they clearly acknowledge it as Helen Kellar story. They did get blessings from the associated UN organization as well.

I dont think BOSE, the movie will win any awards..Western awards I mean.

Well the problem with the WEST is that..If they can identify with the story, they will honor you with an Oscar. For instance, the movie on the Holocaust..Schindlers list..won oscars...Everyone here in America and their babies know what Jews Went through..

So the point is..making a movie of a character that everyone knows..Everyone knew Gandhi..the movie won Oscars. If you ask a White boy who Subash Chandra Bose is..? He would go..isn't he the president of Bose Audio?...

We don't really have FILMAKERS in our country who can produce a polished product. Lagaan came close but I honestly put that on Aamir Khan rather than the director...There is no filmmaker out there who will risk a movie with no songs/dance and hoping to make money.

In the west, movies are made for the Oscars..in India..they are made to make some bucks..

There is another reason... If they dig into history they will find out that, Bose was the only Indian leader who met Hitler. Now dont expect Jewish Hollywood to praise a film that dwells on Bose-who-deals-with Hitler :D

How abt "The Rising" / "Parineeta" ?

no point in wasting money on "period movies". lets take movies for the mass and make some money.

Like Kamal said, oscar is something to market their product. So our filmfare (or any other awards thats unbiased) is our oscar and so we wont many oscars.

i think u all have forgotten the point that the miracle worker and black are based around the life story of helen keller... therefore the similarities will be apparent...

Similarity in the story is fine, but the screenplay, the house they used all are similar. why would they have to go to Himachal Pradesh to take this movie? to even match the snow when they go for the school? C'mon. If they really wanted to "indianize" the movie, they should have few songs  or atleast a seperate comedy track

Although I'm not too crazy about it, but Swades would be a suitable film to send in the Oscar race. Ultimately it's the type of film the Academy loves to award, a film where the good triumphs at the end.

Well Rising May get the award but problem is BOLLYWOOD has been labeled the "song and dance" movies..where actors start to dance in a moment out of nowhere..they dont get the point that most of the hollywood musicals in the 50-60's were like that..ppl loved them...

And the talk about "bollywood stars" going to hollywood..ALL IS BS!..I mean if the greatest actor of all time, Amitabh Bachchan couldnt make it..Hrithik or Aishwarya blah blah can't make it..ITs all hype to make them popular...I can't imagine Aishwarya mouthing in her indian accent the dialogues and the american audiences making fun.....
