Anyone seen this yet ? comments ?

I will see it this weekend (provided the DVD arrives in time).....but I have a vested interest so my opinion will be null and void...i will work on getting the movie out there in cyberspace so that interested people can download it and take a look....i will have to confer with the producers and the rights holders of the movie to be able to do that....so standby for updates....i was hoping people like Sanjay would have caught it in India, but looks like he hasn't :-(

I am just curious to see what kind of films come out of Film Institute students. Keep us posted please...., Thanks.

Well being a film institute grad means nothing these days....its ultimately your personal convictions and the pressures of rozi-roti that dictate things...to give you an example both Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Subhash Ghai are FTII grads. Look at the things they have made. And so is David Dhawan, an FTII gold medallist....but he still caters to the gallery......hopefully these guys have sought to make a different film and have been successful....I will certainly keep y'all posted....

In the meantime read another article featuring the writer-producer in y'day's Mid-Day - http://ww1.mid-day.com/metro/borivli/20 ... 103511.htm

Thanks Ali for the space and for hosting this.....really appreciate it !

Here's a link to the Making and Trailer of THE CHOSEN ONE....

It is a .DAT file. You should be able to download it and view it in Windows Media player...

Let me know what you think.....

http://www.zulm.net/aarkayne/AVSEQ01.DAT

Also incidentally the DoP for this venture is the same guy that did the cinematography for Ram Gopal Verma's MAIN MADHURI DIXIT BANNA CHAHTI HOON.

Personally I think this is a very decently made movie....quiet and understated....the way it is in life....but as I have said earlier, I have a vested interest and hence my views are biased...I would love to hear from people that have seen the feature...

THE CHOSEN ONE won awards in the following popular category at the Indian Television Awards a couple of months ago :

Pasheen Sajdeh - Best Child Artiste (http://www.rediff.com/movies/2005/nov/07telly.htm)

Today it won the following awards in the Technical Categories :

Best Camera - Sanu Varghese

Best Telefilm - Tailormade Films/Studio One (shared award with NIRMALA shown on DD1, directed by Gulzar)

Best Screenplay/Script - Harshavardhan Kulkarni (Gulzar was also nominated in the same category)

Best Direction - Vinil Mathew (Gulzar was also nominated for NIRMALA for the same category).

It lost in the Best Editing and Best Music categories though the same music director won the award for another serial.

the full movie available finally on YouTube......

Both the writer and director have made significant strides in their respective careers since their feature debut in 2007. But this is sort of where it all started.

Comments welcome!
