i'm hoping this doesn't happen...don't mind the remake, but i'd rather have mira nair do something original!

i really have to watch munnabhai mbbs again...sure it was better than most hindi films, but was it THAT good?

I thought it was that good and a welcome addition to bollywood cinema. It is just example that bollywood style filmmaking is durable. That's why I liked it so much.

Also the story is also durable enough that a remake can be made out. Yet, it is always interesting to know what how a story could be remade into a different screenplay with such a large cultural difference. Mira Nair seems to be a good candidate for director since she seems to understand these cultural differences pretty well as far as I can tell from her previous work.

I think it is an especially original concept to have a bollywood comedy remade for hollywood. So here's hoping that this does happen.

Personally speaking the movie is "as good as embracing strangers in front of others" - its that embarrassing. If not for the local lingua franca, the movie is a 'typical' bollywood offering, 1st half 'was' engaging , but the 2nd half gave way for too much melodrama.

There has been too many rumors about too many things linking holly-wood and bolly-wood, so unless the paper is inked i will not have high hopes . That said Hollywood seems to be in a BIG slump right now with remakes being released/made and planned so i guess anything is possible.

Fox bought the script rights for the Hindi film earlier this year

... I can just see majority of the Indian bollywood producers and directors laughing at that that concept – they would have just copied it scene by scene and claimed it’s original or maybe taken the 'it's marginally inspired by’ philosophy

I've been thinking though: Isn't Munnabhbai remade or atleast "inspired" by Robin Williams' "Patch Adams?"
