"Where's the Party Yaar?" is the story about Hari Patel, an FOB (aka Fresh of The Boat) Indian who has the dreams of educating himself in the USA. At the same time Hari is desperate to find his perfect life partner as describe by the great astrologer, Bhole Shankar Maharaj. But he is too afraid to tell her, and decides to chose a moonlight night, and the upcoming Desi Fever Party to tell her that he loves her.. But there is one problem.. Wheres the Party Yaar?
In all honesty, I was expecting this movie to be another American Based Desi Movie which pulls out all the stereotypes in desi's living in the west... However, this movie was a plesent surprise... The movie is fresh, extremely witty and most of all entertaining... Sunil Malhotra plays Hari Patel, and does the role as a fresh of the boat desi perfectly.... Ive never seen him in a movie before, but hes great... The role of Mo is played by Kal Penn, we've all seen him before from hit movies such as American Desi and Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, but in this movie he comes out with some extremely witty diagloues, and does the movie justice... im looking forward to seeing more of him...
All in all, Wheres the Party Yaar? is an excellent movie.. Its pretty difficult to get hold of this movie, and I very much doubt it will get a release over here in the UK, but if you get the opportunity to watch it, definately do!! Some of the one line dialogues by the freshies are great... The best has to be "Teri Phen Di Shit" - I mean where have you heard that before.... You can honestly relate to the characters in the movie. I bet we must know of at least one person in this movie that is a clone copy of the characters displayed on screen... One of the stunning things about the movies was the amount of fit desi women... A lot of the western based desi movies dont tend to bother about glamour, but the desi-women in this movie go out of their way to tart themselves up. *sniggers* Another major plus point of the movie is the killer soundtrack.. Some fantastic background music including Cornershop, Panjabi MC, RDB, Sahara and DJ Cheb i Sabbah. Just wish I had a chance to watch this on the big screen...
Anyway, its a great movie... Dont miss it!!
