Does this mean Channel 4 Late Night Season incorporating upto 10 films is not happening this year? Is it just about Shah Rukh Khan this year?

Not sure, only saw the ad for this SRK short season last night and looked it up. Not heard of any other movies showing.

Channel 4, I think is BBC.

I'm curious to find if C4 broadcasts these films straight Film to PAL or NTSC video material that already exists converted to PAL??

If they went by North American Indian TV/ Video standards, they wouldn't hesitate to use NTSC videos, even if, obtained from PAL telecine, and convert again to PAL.

Sorry Rana I don't know any of the technical stuff, but films on Channel 4 have far better picture and sound than most DVD titles. In fact, the quality is usually superior to other Asian channels like ZEE and B4U too! I still watch Channel 4 version of many of my favourite films like Andaz and Seeta Aur Geeta, even though I have their DVD too....

  We only get 5 terrestrial network channels in the UK; BBC1, BBC2, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5. Rest are all is digital and satellite.

Channel 4 used to have a reputation of showing the original movies in the original context; pristine prints and maintaining the original aspect ratio and audio formats. From the trailers I’ve seen of Devdas they are using footage from the Eros DVD; the same dark murky transfer – on top of which they have cropped it to 1.85. Very unlikely they’ll show the movie like that on Saturday though.

From pervious summer showings of Indian films on C4 I can guess that C4 will use the same Digibeta master used for the DVD, on films owned by EROS.

C4 will use their old betacam sp tapes for all films previously shown (e.g the Shyam Benegal films, excluding Mammo)

It was an excellent documentary...it's Nasreen Munni Kabir's best since her three-part documentray on Guru Dutt. The images shown spoke so many words about Shah Rukh...and it was very touching.
