BBC TV series on Bollywood moguls

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/arti ... 795488.cms

IANS[ THURSDAY, JULY 29, 2004 10:38:26 PM ]
NEW DELHI: A new BBC World TV series will provide little known details about the lives of Bollywood's biggest directors starting this weekend.

Bollywood Bosses , starting July 31, will bring intimate interviews with five of the Hindi film industry's biggest filmmakers - Ram Gopal Varma, Karan Johar, Yash Chopra, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Rakesh Roshan.

Together they are responsible for blockbusters like Rangeela , Kaho Na Pyar Hai , Devdas , Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Dil To Pagal Hai .

The opening episode is with Varma, who takes the crew for a tour into his studio named The Factory and discusses his career, from a video storeowner to Bollywood mogul.

In the interview, Varma explains how he made films like Satya and Company and why he promotes new talent.

"I'm not here to give voice to new directors. I have no intentions of encouraging new talent or doing charity business here. They have their own agenda, they are using me as the means, or one of the better means, to get where they want."

The episode on Varma also features interviews with stars Vivek Oberoi and Antara Mali, who have worked closely with the director.

I hope it's as good as Ch 4's Movie Mahal programs.
Worth recording.
