MBBS beats KMG and KHNH in 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th week collections. Let's see where it ends up.

http://www.boxofficeindia.com/

The film that is still leaving a mark is Munnabhai MBBS.The collections of this film in its 10th,11th,12th and now 13th week have been better than the two biggest hits of last year Koi Mil Gaya and Baghban in the same weeks. These two films also had the advantage of tax free tag at various places in these weeks whereas this has not been given to MBBS but still it records better collections.MBBS which had initially been given a tag of a Mumbai hit is now heading towards being the second biggest hit of 2003.Only time will tell if it gets there or not.

MBBS is in its 18th week now. By 17th week it has already matched the Distributor return on Investment of the biggest hit of 2003 so far, Koi Mil Gaya.

Koi Mil Gaya gave a 108 % return to its distributors. (Baghban 94%,Andaaz 88%, KHNH 57% till week 20, Khakee 27% till week 12).

Munnabhaaii MBBS has already given a 108% of Return on Investment by 17th week.

Moreover, MBBS is still going strong. It's 17th week collections are almost double of KMG in its 17th week.
MBBS is ranked 3rd in its 17th week, after Masti and Murder in their first & 2nd week, in total collections as well as in collections per print.

http://www.planetbollywood.com/Gossip/g ... 120930.php

While Sanjay Dutt´s ´Munnababhai M.B.B.S.´ is in its silver jubilee week at many centres in India , it is the first film in the history of Baroda to celebrate silver jubilee in two cinemas - Inox and Chandran .

Meanwhile , in Mumbai the movie has crossed the 5 crore barrier having obtained a whopping 5,02,70,700/- in 24 weeks . A total of 8 prints are engaged in the 25th silver Jubilee week in Mumbai city .

???? Double Jubilee In Baroda ????
Both the cinemas (Inox & Chandan) in Baroda are screening Munnabhai only one show a day ( http://www.baroda.com/movies.html
) and this has been for past few months (atleast since March as I was in Baorda during the month of March). So, I am not sure whether you can consider this as double silver jubilee??

You are absolutely right VijayDinanathChavan. Genuine Silver Jubilee or 100 day runs are when they are in the same theatre for that period at least 3 shows a day. In this case, calling a Silver Jubilee in Baroda is just boasting.

But, I have seen many boasting claims by many films where they claim Silver Jubilee or a 100 day run even if it was in different theatres in a city and even if some of the screenings were single show per day.

These days Genuine Silver Jubilees are rare. I wonder if KMG, KHNH did achieve genuine Silver Jubilee status by running 3 or 4 shows daily, in the same theatre, for the whole 25 weeks??
Which recent film did achieve Golden Jubilee 3-4 shows daily in the same theatre for the whole 50 weeks??

KHNH was LOUSY, whatever MB MBBS was it was FEEL GOOD FILM, where it shows SUCCESS and RISE of a COMMON MAN! Indian masses besides their ATROCIOUS TASTE for bAD FILMS tend to favour these kinda films, same for LAGAAN, but mind u I am not comparing MUNNA BHAII to LAGAAN! here!

I am talking CONCEPTUALLY!

Munnabhai(Sanjay Dutt) was a gangster, whom free-loaded his way around a medical institution only to serve an uninteresting revenge on the school dean. The film forcefully pushes frail emotional sensing from it's character's for us to feel sympathetic for them. I managed to catch the film again nearly 2 weeks ago on B4U. And while my taste for the film still remains dry, I did however, manage to enjoy Boman Irani's performance moreso the second time around than before. Beyond this, Munnabhai MBBS was just...bad..bad...bad!

Yeah, it was pretty deplorable for him to force the doctor to take the entrance exam for him, but if they had made the whole film a dark comedy that angle would have worked better.

I dont think ETHICS/MORALS are to be deployed here!!

Which HINDI FILM these days you think TEACH u VALUE/ETHICS/MORALS, GUNDAS/BAD GUYS /CORRUPT people are showed glamorous and ruling!

When BAD GUYS become Heros and their BAD THINGS become NORMS! Then nothing is DEPLORABLE! IMHO!

I understand my self this so, I make sure, Movies glamorizing/Justifying all sort of Evil should not become normal things in my family!

Munna Bhaii was not a CLASSIc/it was not flawless film, but some how it had gutts to get clicked with masses!!

a GUNDA can be GUNDA because he has GOOD HEART.

MARRIAGe is NO MARRIAGE! PLEASURE is every thing!! Well, thats the state of affair imho..

Except films like BAGHBAN occasionaly, RE PREACHING VALUE OF OLDER PARENTS!! But I dont think in normal life PARENTS/GRAND PARENTS are like those either!
