I just got the CD soundtrack of Run, I was hoping that producer Sridevi and director Jeeva would keep the original Tamil music score from Vidyasagar. But when I heard the Hindi score I was stumped to find an awful score that sounded dated and 10 years older then the Tamil Version.

The original score was wonderful and with minor changes could have catered for north Indian audiences. Alas they are now presented with a score that was not worth my money.

Furthermore I have seen the song promos and the subway fight scene is looks similar, using the same stunt guys and location!!!! I only hope Peter Hain (Fight Director) ensures an improved sequence in the fight scenes otherwise what was the point of spending millions on a film when the original on DVD was avaliable for only £12.99 with English Subtitles....

I guess Boney Kapoor hasn't shown Sridevi the case study of Nayak which was expensive and poorer then the original and low budget Mudhalavan....

I haven't listened yet, but if the soundtrack isn't good, this film is going to flop. The story is nothing special, but the soundtrack of the Tamil version is pretty good and must have been a big part of why it was a hit. Abhishek in an unoriginal story with mediocre music, who will watch? With Jeeva at the helm the cinematography will be good, but who knows how the film will turn out.

Run, the original movie was good. Madhavan's performance was good, the girl was cute, and the movie had good music. Atul Kulkarni was great and that final fight was just awesome.

Now this movie has a cute girl, a shit hero, but a great villain (Manjrekar).

Well 2 out of 4 aint bad... lets hope that final fight is good :nopity: :nopity: :baaa:

I thought both versions were downright stupid with the Hindi version generally having a somewhat better-looking and better dressed cast. Manisha Koirala's Tamil dubbing was as ridiculous as ever.

I own the CD and DVD of the tamil version of Run. The Hindi version's songs are nowhere close. I don't know why they are remaking the movie, as the original was nothing special. The first hour was slow, and only picked up when Madhavan started taking charge. I don't think Abhishek will be able to match Maddy in the tamil original.

RUN is a TERRIBLE, REHASHED, soundtrack coming from a BONEY KAPOOR production..IMHO..EVEN KISMAT has more MASS APPEAL, for RIKSHAs, TANGAs etc!

On the other tone, MAHADEVAN, IMHO, after KAMLA HASAN is most balanced SOUTH actor!! While Abhishek is just a crappy Maha S**** star kid!along with ISHA DEOL!

I was Mauritius in Oct last year when abhishek and the makers of Run were there shooting. The song they were filming was "ear-spitting" stuff. I asked abhiskek about the movie. He was pretty pumped up about it.

I think its gonna be a diba! :nopity:

Run runs into Censor problems

By IndiaFM News Bureau, May 05th, 2004 - 1230 hrs IST

Boney Kapoor's Run that releases on May 14 has some interesting action sequences well executed by action master Peter from Vietnam, which seems to be even better than the original Tamil film. But then this hard-hitting action sequences have created some censor problems for the film.

The censors demanded as much as 50 percent cut in the action scenes to grant the film a U certificate. Without these cuts the film would acquire a U/A certificate. But Boney felt that since a U (Universal) certificate doesn't make much of a difference from the U/A (Under the guidance of Adults), he went forward with the action scenes and a U/A certificate for his film.

I figure, Run will make a profitable run. Herer is my take on it:

1) Very modest budget. Only Rs 8 crore, so the All India Distributor cost should be around Rs 4 or 5 crore.

2) As I read at Rediff 'Run' page, it's shot in NOIDA (suburb of Delhi, but is in UP). Not many films are made in and around Delhi. So expect a good run in Delhi, UP, Punjab, Haryana, North MP.

3) Copy of a south hit that North Indians haven't seen. Bhumika Chawla is not bad plus Mahesh Manjrekar is enough to bring terror on the screen and audiences to theatres in and around Delhi. Bombay may not see a good run, but North India should be enough to recover the low cost of this film.

Rana

BTW,
1) When was 'Film City in NOIDA' set up?? Is Sunil Dutt started (in late 60s or early 70s) studio a different one?? How common are film shootings in NOIDA or in UP??

2) Hollywod, Bollywood and now NO-WOOD?? :)

3) Talking of Wood, perhaps Hollywood was named on the basis of Holy Woods. It's wooded area. Fine. But in trying to think of a catchy name, they came up with Bollywood name, where there are no Woods at all. Same with all other so called ---wood studios in the world.

As long as the language of the film produced is Hindi, I doubt any other name will be given to the industry other than Bollywood. Foreigners dont even know the difference between the different Indian languages. They call them all Bollywood films. We often hear that Bollywood makes 800 films a year (When only over a hundred are in Hindi from Bombay).

ANyway, I think the decision to attract film companies to U.P. is a move by the state government and I read something about it about a year back in a Singapore paper.
