No Aishwarya for Brad Pitt movie?
By Our Correspondent ©2004 Bollyvista.com

As we know, Paramount Pictures has asked Gulshan Grover to scout for a Bollywood actress to play the lead role opposite Brad Pitt in an upcoming Hollywood film.

Reportedly, they have told Gulshan Grover that they don't want Aishwarya Rai, for reasons best known to them.

For more details (12 pages) see:
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/arti ... ~Aishwarya

Excerpts:

She might have been named alongside Peter Jackson, Nicole Kidman and Sean Penn as among the 100 most influential people in Time magazine, but Aishwarya Rai is unwanted in an upcoming Hollywood film.

The Paramount Pictures feature will have an Indian actor to play the lead role opposite Brad Pitt.

Bollywood baddie Gulshan Grover, who has been asked by Paramount to scout a Bollywood actor, says ?it will be the biggest role in an international project for an Indian actress.?

But Grover has been told the company doesn?t want Rai. ?I didn?t bother to ask them why,? he says, adding his conjecture is they possibly wanted someone who has not done any work in Hollywood or is not heard of. ?I personally believe Aishwarya is a good actor,? he says.

Grover says his brief is to find someone beautiful, with Indian looks. She should be a good actor, should speak good English and have a face and personality that would appeal to a Western audience too.

Present status of their Poll:

In lieu of Ash, the poll shows Rani Mukherji as a top favourite. I think it would be a bad idea to cast her. Her voice modulation is by and large poor and her diction(angrezi ie) quite pathetic. Amongst the lot Lara Dutta, Preity Zeinta or Diana Hayden might make the cut. Two amongst them have actually gone through the rigors of winning a beauty contest and hence are groomed.

Though I would think Lisa Ray would be the really good fit and she is not even amongst the list !!! She really rocked good in BOLLYWOOD/HOLLYWOOD.

I doubt that this story is true - Paramount willing to cast an Indian actress opposite Brad Pitt.

And I certainly don't believe anything written by Times Of India. Especially after they misrepresented the murder of my uncle, in order to sensationalize the story.

My Uncle (a retired rail-worker) was shot-at by a deranged individual, who indiscriminately fired-at the group of 15+ senior citizens (predoninantly aged 65-80), who were playing cards in a San Jose Park. Four people lost their lives (including the assailant) in an attempt to subdue him. This news was correctly reported by the San Jose Mercury/Fox News/Rediff/Hindustan Times and the press release can be read at the SJPD website.

The Times of India decided to report this as a drug-related shooting, amongst Panjabi truck-drivers - These 'youths' were apparantly having a gang-war over smuggling routes through India-California-Toronto.

Following my e-mail to the Times Of India, they did not even bother to reply (let alone offer any apology).

Sorry, that this was off-topic, just something about Times-of-India that I wanted to share - I used to respect their reporting.

My condolences. But I am not at all surprised that such a source of information would deflect there story to only uplift or protect the interest of there own ideology.

With regards to the intent discussion, excluding Aish. I think a great choice would be Lisa Ray. Though, she's not much of an actress, but she is a beauti to look at.

Actually you are right...i have not seen TEHZEEB...i was basing my selections on the fact that they needed someone that could speak well and having heard these gals speak, thought they might make the cut....Lisa Ray did act rather competently in BOLLYWOOD/HOLLYWOOD

I suppose. But than again. I'd also argue that Brad Pitt himself ins't much of an actor either.

What about Bend It Like Bekham girl Parminder Nagra??

Her looks are perfect Indian. Spoken English is perfect British. She may be older, but does look Perfect Teenager, with makeup may look older. Natural acting. Plus no reservations, won't do this or that.

Unfortunately she is not a pretty face.....she's cute and all that, but does not have the classical good looks that they maybe looking for. It all depends on what the role demands in any case ! But yeah, she could be it too, who knows.

Exactly, it DEPENDS if PARAMOUNT is LOOKING for MISS WORLD ETC/SEX KITTEN, or a GIRL NEXT DOOR/NATURAL!
