During the showing of the housefull film"Gilli"on friday night there was a disturbance from Tamil gangs which ended in the damage of the UCI cinema. The gangs even overpowered five heavily built security guards, who does work for Hollywood Celebrities!!!! UCI have now banned the showing of all Tamil films from their cinema from fear of the gangs.

The film (a excellent remake of Telegu film Okkadu) on its first week has already turned over a profit and continues. The film is directed by Dharani (Dhil, Dhool) and stars Vijay, Trisha, Ashish Vidyarthi and Prakash Raj. The film feature excellent performances from the cast, but its Ashish Vidyarthi who surprises in his role.

DVD is expected to release in Sept 2004.

What's so crappy about learning that the DVD of Gili is coming out in sept 2004??? The film is one of the superhits playing at this current time in India, which is rare during election time over there.. The Ealing part was antedoctal. Don't read my postings if you don't want to "read" crappy news again, OK?

'Gilli' takes a great opening

Vijay’s Gilli produced by A.M.Ratnam and directed by Dharani has taken a great opening worldwide with 185 prints and has the potential to turn into a superhit!

In London where it was premiered on Thursday the reception was overwhelming as more than 600 Tamilians had to go back due to non-availability of tickets! In Colombo the film has taken a better opening than any other recent Tamil film.

Meanwhile in Tamilnadu, Vijay fans are celebrating as they are happy with the film and say that it will turn out to be a bigger hit than his last genuine superhit Kushi. The fans of ‘Ilaya Thalapathy” find the film racy and entertaining.

In Kerala a Vijay stronghold, Gilli has released in two theaters in Trivandrum, which only happens to Mohanlal films! And at Ernakulam Kavitha, all shows are full and people are enjoying this mass entertainer.

Said Dharani who is on a tour across Tamilnadu: “The crowd reaction to Gilli is unbelievable. It is a superhit and will be a bigger hit than my last film Dhool”.

Meanwhile the trade is yet to access how big a hit Gilli may ultimately turn out to be, but till May 1(when Arul releases) the film can run without opposition.

Gilli film is very good film. I am the biggest fan of vijay. Ghilli film is best Vijay expressed interest in starring in a Tamil remake of the successful Telugu action film, Okkadu and prompted producer A. M. Rathnam to purchase the remake rights of the film. Trisha good per of vijay.
