No 'A' certificate for topless Janaki!
If not 'A' then what? 'XXX' perhaps? Director Vinod Chhabra seems to be running out of options after Censors denied even an Adult certificate to his film 'Mysteries - Shaque'.
This is the latest setback for Chhabra who is already facing the heat from 23-year-old starlet Janaki Shah over a topless shot in the film.
While Censor Board chief Anupam Kher was not available for comments, others on the certification body say 'Mysteries - Shaque' comes dangerously close to being soft porn.
'Mysteries - Shaque' first ran into trouble last year when Shah alleged the one-second shot showing her topless was not part of the agreement she had signed with the producer-director.
She told the Hindustan Times that the sequence required her to tear off her shirt on a tennis court on being challenged by the boys that girls cannot do certain things, howsoever modern they claim to be. Shah said as per the agreement, she was to be shown only in her undergarments.
"But the director fooled me by shooting the topless scene thereafter," she had claimed.
Shah feels vindicated after the Censor Board judgement. "When I first raised the issue, a lot of people thought it was a publicity stunt. But now that the Censor has found the film too raunchy to be given a certificate, I am sure all doubts will be laid to rest," she quips.
Although shaken by the onslaught, Chhabra is not giving up. At least not just yet. "At this time you can sell only two S in the film industry. The first is Shahrukh Khan and the second is Sex. So I guess I have done the right thing," he insists.
