New NBC Comedy - Now Casting!

NBC Studios is holding a worldwide search to find the stars of their upcoming pilot "Nevermind Nirvana." The search is for professional and non-professional East Indian actors.

The following are the five series regulars for which actors will be considered:

SUNIL "SONNY" MEHTA 2O's, Male (EAST INDIAN WITH AN AMERICAN ACCENT)

RAJU MEHTA 20's, Male (EAST INDIAN WITH AN AMERICAN ACCENT)

DR. ARJUN MEHTA Late 40s to 60s, Male (EAST INDIAN WITH AN EAST INDIAN ACCENT)

DR. SARITA MEHTA Late 40s to 60s, Female (EAST INDIAN WITH AN EAST INDIAN ACCENT)

I dont understand, why you guys are so belligerent towards dragun, on this issue!!

I hate it when they call us East Indians...

Reason is:

To distinguish American Indians that are/ were called West Indians, Indian from India are referred as East Indians.

BTW, even American Indians find it degradotary when called West Indians. Same with Eskimos.
Politically correct term is 'Aboriginals'.
Native Americans are not separated by borders in America. They call themselves as people of 'First Nations'. They are just sharing that land with settlers/ immigrants.

As use of the term 'West Indian' fades away, the term 'Indian' will not require any further distinction.
