Australia issues stamp in honour of AV Meiyappan

http://www.screenindia.com/fullstory.ph ... nt_id=7596

The late AV Meiyappam, founder of Chennai’s AVM Studios, has been conferred a rare honour by the postal department of Australia that has issued a stamp in his honour. This is AVM’s 59th year. The company is now being run by Meiyappan’s son M Saravanan and has completed its 166th film which is a record for any company anywhere.

Bravo.

In the 60s, Raaj Kumar (Shammi Kapoor, Sadhna) was advertized as "Savana Films". Now this film is under AVM catalog. I never could understand the connection. Found it from this news clip. Sarvana was AV Meiyappam's (founder AVM Studios) son. Obviously he made Raaj Kumar outside of his father's banner AVM. Now, he himself is at the helm of AVM.

And I bought it recently. If I score my old VHS copy to be 6, EROS DVD will be 1.5. It's copied from VHS, not even Beta master.

Well, someone has to be Bakra.
